Best Kids’ Insoles for Fashionable Shoes – They Fit Inside Boots, Dress Shoes, and Cleats!

Does your child have a foot condition such as flat feet, weak ankles, overpronation, or low muscle tone, and needs to wear supportive shoes and orthotics at all times? Is your child already wearing insoles/orthotics inside the sneakers but they won’t fit inside your child’s boots, dress shoes, or cleats? I will show you the best kids’ insoles for fashionable shoes that I have fitted before and that work well inside boots, cleats, and dress shoes.

My Experience Fitting Children’s Shoes and Orthotics – 10 Years of Experience

I am passionate about fitting children’s shoes as I truly believe that the correct type of shoes can be life-changing. Children’s feet are constantly developing, and what happens to their feet during their childhood will affect their physique as they grow older.

I work for a specialized children’s shoe store that focuses on helping children with “complicated” foot shapes as well as foot and leg problems, but we provide regular shoe fittings as well. I have been fitting children’s shoes and orthotics for the last 10 years, and I handle approximately one hundred shoe fittings/try ons per week.

At the shoe store that I work for, we get a lot of families who are referred by their medical professionals (physical/occupational therapists) to be fitted for supportive shoes and orthotics.

Does Your Child Need to Wear Insoles Inside Boots, Cleats, or Dress Shoes?

This depends on the degree of your child’s foot condition and whether your child experiences foot or leg pain when not wearing supportive footwear.

In some cases, children can wear these types of shoes without orthotics, as long as they wear them for very short periods of time.

The Challenges of Fitting Insoles Inside Boots, Cleats, and Dress Shoes

Not all orthotics/insoles are capable of fitting inside boots, cleats, and dress shoes, as most insoles take up too much extra space inside the shoes. It’s easier to fit insoles inside sneakers, but when it comes to other types of footwear that are not as deep such as boots, cleats, or dress shoes, it gets a lot more challenging.

The good news is that after having fitted several different insoles I became familiar with the ones that provide good support but don’t take as much extra space inside the shoes as others.

What Makes the Insoles I Recommend Ideal for Boots, Dress Shoes and Cleats?

1️⃣ Both insoles that I recommend have a medium volume fit profile, which refers to the amount of space they will take up inside your kids’ shoes. The slim design makes them ideal for fitting inside boots and dress shoes.

Even though the insoles that I recommend have a slim design, that doesn’t mean they compromise on the amount of support that they provide. Both insoles provide biomechanical arch support to re-align and support your child’s feet.

2️⃣ The insoles also offer a deep and supportive heel cup with extra cushion and support right below the child’s heels. This feature helps position the child’s heels to naturally absorb and soften the impact from the ground.

Below you can find both of the insoles that fit well inside boots, cleats, and dress shoes. Disclosure: Keep in mind that we may receive commissions when you click our links and make purchases.

The Importance of Removing the Original Insoles Before Fitting the Extra Insoles

Before placing any of the insoles I recommended inside your kids’ shoes, you should check whether your child’s current boots, cleats, or dress shoes have removable insoles. I strongly suggest that you remove the original insoles of the shoes before placing the new insoles/orthotics.

If you fitted the insoles inside shoes that have shoelaces instead of velcro or another alternative closure, I strongly suggest that you apply this shoe lacing technique so your child can get the full support and stability that the insoles have to offer:
