Best Shoes For Wide Feet

The Best Kids’ Shoes for Wide Feet ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Do you always have a hard time finding shoes that are capable of accommodating the shape of your child’s wide feet?

I have been helping parents find their correct pair of shoes for their children for last 10 years, working at a specialized children’s shoe store that focuses in children with foot and leg problems, as well as regular shoe fittings. For the last 5 years I have been helping parents find the correct pair of shoes for their children online.

Keep in mind that I only review shoes that I have fitted before, since that’s the only way for me to tell how the shoes fit and how well made they are.

These are the best shoes for children with wide feet since in addition to being labeled as wide (W), they also provide extra depth and rounder toe-boxes. Disclosure: Keep in mind that we may receive commissions when you click our links and make purchases.

If you need any other type of shoes for: sports, summer, winter, or for every day use, you can find them all in a tool I created which lets you filter by the type of shoes you need. This tool is extremely effective since it will show you shoes in different widths such as narrow, medium, wide, and extra wide. I also tell you exactly how each shoe style fits (short, long, narrow, or wide) and will let you filter by the instep of your child’s foot. You can even find shoes that will accommodate an orthotic! You can find that tool here:

  1. your best shoes for wide feet information is just wonderful. I myself know what is like growing up and having a terrible time in trying to find decent shoes for my very wide feet. I had to take what was available which left me wearing ugly, and I do mean ugly shoes (of course this was some years ago) People definitely do need a site like this to finding decent shoes especially when wide widths are involved. Thank you

    • Angela,

Even though there are not that many wide and extra wide widths available in children’s shoes, fit and comfort for your little ones should be the parents first priority. The issue is that most brands are cutting down in making wide and extra wide shoes since there is no demand for them. At the store I work for we sell tons of them, but we are a fitting store. If you go to most shopping malls you will find that most retailers do not fit shoes, that is the reason why they do not even carry shoes in different widths. Thank you for sharing.

  2. Good read for a mom of 2 toddlers. It seems like I’m buying new shoes for them every time I turn around and the basic break down at the end of each review for style, price, cheapest place to buy, fit, and rating were great and really made comparing easy. The article about buying shoes for extra wide feet was great too. I also have to buy wide shoes for them to make sure they have enough room for those ever growing feet. 🙂

    • Skye,

Are your children being fitted for their shoes? How old are they? Children’s feet do grow fast, but if properly fitted with some growing room they should last them longer. I am glad you found the information helpful. Let me know if you have any questions.

  3. Hi there,

Lovely post and those shoes do look ever so cute for my little munchkin – my little sweetie! Howeverr, how can I tell if MY little girl has wide feet or not ? I don’t know of any ways of measuring or telling for sure. Size (in length) yes no problem easy but how can you tell or know if a child (2 years old) has wide feet or not ?

    • After doing this for over five years I can tell just by looking at their feet. The measuring tool I use which is called the brannock device comes with a feature on the side which reads the width. There is also another factor, the instep of the foot. If the instep is high, that means the child will probably need wide shoes. Are there any fitting shoe stores available in your area? If not, send me an email with a picture of her feet and I will be able to tell you. My email is: jvalenzuela@fittingchildrenshoes.com

      Thank you for sharing!

  4. Wow, this is an excellent idea! I can say from personal experience that our shoes can affect our posture, our back strength, our alignment and so much more! I love these options for kids and think it’d really help so many kids to use something like this.
As I read one thing I wished is that you had more options to choose from. Also if you put a divider line in between the products it’d be easier to see what is applicable for each one 🙂
    This is a great review!

    • Camden,

You are a 100% right when you state that shoes will affect our children’s posture, back strength and alignment, and at the same time it will prevent foot injuries, leg and foot pain among many others. Thank you for sharing!

  5. This is something that both me and my son need. We both have wide feet and I thought it wasn’t really going to affect me that much until I bought a pair of shoes that had a little bit of a narrower toe box than average shoes and my feet can’t stand wearing those more than an hour. Please advise.

    • Joon,

Were you measured for those shoes? Are you positive about the shoe size that you need? Wearing shoes that are too narrow can have several drawbacks and it can lead to severe foot, knee, or back problems. Please make sure you are buying your son with the correct pair of shoes. Take a look at my review on “best shoes for wide feet” so you can make the most informative decision next time.

  6. We bought exactly the Saucony Baby Ride Sneakers you review above for one of our sons. They fit well and held up to a toddler running around. I also totally agree that they are super lightweight. I highly recommend these as well. And they do have them in additional colors – we bought them in gray with lime green trim.

    • Teresa,

The Baby Ride is one of the best kids shoes that Saucony ever made. I am glad that you agree with the quality of the shoe! Thank you for stopping by!

  7. Juan Pablo please help! I am looking everywhere for my daughter I need xw winter boots for her where is the best place or kind to buy and where can I find them…not a snow boot a warm winter boot…thank you

    • Hello Shelly,

Have you tried the brand Jambu for her? I have fitted some of the widest feet in their shoes. Here you can find a link to their widest fashion/winter boot: Widest Winter Boot From Jambu

This boot only comes in whole sizes, so make sure to get them a little bit big so she can use them for the whole winter. They are waterproof and warm. Please let me know how it works out or if you have any other questions.

  8. This is a wonderful site. I have a grandson – almost 4 – with extra wide feet (size 10). Actually, his feet are so wide they don’t even fit on the chart. We have generally bought Stride Rite for him. Am trying to find snow boots. He says even the size 11W Tundra is too tight, though it comes the closest to fitting. The Kamik 11W wouldn’t even go on his foot – maybe due to his high arch. So I guess we will have to try 12s. Any other ideas?

  9. I have always had problems finding shoes that fit properly as I have wide feet, and now I found out my daughter (10) also has this issue. This is a very useful post, but do you know of any dress shoes or cute sandals for girls with wide feet? My daughter loves to wear dresses and she loves wearing dress shoes, but it is nearly impossible to find shoes that fit her properly. Any suggestions/recommendations will be great.

  10. Hello,
I found your wonderful post by searching for Tsukihoshi shows for my daughter… After discovering them for my son, both have wide feet. I am interested in trying other brands, as they are often hard to find. I know for can be challenging, but I am going the opposite way– what “regular” shoe size would you suggest is she fits a 6 in Tsukihoshi? What is the comparable size in Saucony, Jambu?

    • Hi Christy,

Tsukihoshi makes great shoes, but in addition to being hard to find, their sizing is really hard to figure out. The issue is that all of their styles “run” a little different. If you tell me what particular shoe style from Tsukihoshi your child is wearing, I can provide you with a better answer.

In my experience, most Tsukihoshi shoe styles fit in the longer and wider size, which means that if your daughter fits in a Tsukihoshi size 6 right now, she probably needs a 7 in Saucony.

Some Jambu shoe styles also tend to fit long, but not as long as Tsukihoshi. In that shoe brand I recommend she wears a size 6 1/2 or 7.

      I hope this helps!
