Shoes for Christmas – Fun and Supportive Styles!

The shoes that I describe throughout this post have enough support for them to be worn as everyday sneakers, which basically means that they can be worn to physical education class, run around in the playground, and play sports at recess!

Most girls love wearing sparkly shoes! I have experienced this because every time they come to the store and moms ask them to look at the shoe display to choose a shoe, they always go for the brightest, most colorful shoes on the whole display wall!

Mom’s immediate reaction tends to be: “No honey, pick another one…” even though she was the one who told her to choose!

I know some parents are skeptical of allowing their kids to wear these types of shoes, but if you are going to ever let your children wear them, Christmas is the perfect time of the year to do so!

Let kids be kids, let them have fun! Let them show their friends how beautiful the shoes they chose are!

10 Comments on Christmas Shoes for Kids – Find the Perfect Pair to Celebrate Christmas!

  1. Hello,

I guess shoes with very good structure and support is important. Especially for younger kids that are growing in an accelerated rest. I mean, they do grow up fast, that’s for sure.

I can remember my mom tell my siblings and me how her was to purchase she’s that are going to offer good support for growing feet. She said wearing cheap non-supportive shoes can only lead to foot problem in the long run.

However, nowadays you should be able to purchase shoes that can be both supportive and fun to wear. And, as you said, let the kids be kids.
    Very Good Information.

    • You are correct, shoes with good support and structure are important for children who are already walking and running around. These type of shoes will reduce the impact on your kids feet, legs, and back every time they are walking, running, and playing around.

I wouldn’t say that cheaper shoes translate to foot problems in the long run. I have fitted several styles of cheaper shoes that actually offer great support. I wrote a post about the best shoes for children, and some of the styles are actually very reasonable priced. 2. Thank you for a great article about light up shoes. My son has been nagging me to get him a pair for some time now. The question I have though is if they are dangerous? If they get wet can’t that be a bit scary? Also, do they have an on and off button so they don’t light up all the time? Thanks in advance for answering my queries.

    • Hello Hannah,

There are no issues when it comes to the shoes getting wet. Light up shoes are not dangerous at all, there are certain styles that are bulkier and less supportive than non light up shoes. Some styles come with and on and off button. The styles made by Skechers normally come with an on and off button.

  3. Hi Juan Pablo!

Thank you for the article. I have 3 little kids at home so I know the problem very well. When we lived in Indonesia, it was somehow easier (and also harder) with shoes. Because in that equatorial climate you kid’s don’t really need shoes at all. Flip-flops were all they needed. However, I knew that flip-flops were not healthy. So we tried to find them something more supportive.

Now, after returning back to homeland we live in the north, which is cold. Here, the shoes (boots, ets.) are strong and supportive of course.

But as for Christmas party or Church gatherings – well, why not some lighter shoes. They use them so rarely, it does not hurt anybody.

Just my two cents, sir 🙂

    • Ergon,

You are right, light up shoes are great as long as they wear them occasionally. However, in my post I mentioned some light up shoes that have enough support to be worn as an everyday sneaker.

  4. I’ve never been brave enough to buy light up shoes–they drive me nuts. I’m sure at some point I’ll break down and buy a pair for my boys! But those Batman slipper socks are absolutely adorable and would make us all happy. I’ll try them and let you know how they work out for us!

    • Hello Amanda,

Eventually your kids’ will keep asking about the light up shoes until you give in. It is not such a big deal for them once they wear them for the first time, they might not even ask for them next time. You should definitely provide them with a cool looking slipper, I am sure they will be happy about that! Let me know how it works out!

  5. Hey there
My boy is 8 and now he is looking for more “grown-up’s” kind of stuff. But there were times when he wanted to have the light up shoes. I guess each kid is having this period 🙂 So we got him the light up shoes and these were the happy days 🙂 The problem was that he wanted the shoes to glow all the time so at some point the lights stopped – I guess they got overloaded 🙂

    • Arta,

Of course, every child wants to have a pair of light up shoes, at least once in their lifetime! The lights should not give out until the child fully outgrown the shoe. That might have been a manufactures defect’s. Contact the shoe store or online company where you got them and ask them if there is something they can do for you.
