Have you been looking for a pair of Keen sandals for your child? Are you having trouble deciding which Keen style provides better support and durability? Keen sandals are the most supportive and durable sandals for kids, but among this shoe brand, there are certain styles that are better than others.
Keen sandals are the most popular type of sandals that kids wear to summer camp, going to the beach, riding their bicycles, or any other type of activity that requires them being active.
These sandals are the ones that most physical/occupational therapists recommend for children with foot issues such as flat feet, overpronation, or rolled ankles.
One particular feature that parents love about Keen sandals is how they are practically indestructible, which guarantees that their children will outgrow the sandals before they wear them out.
Depending on your child’s foot shape there are certain Keen sandals that will fit better than others. For example, if you have a child with wide or extra wide feet, there is only one Keen sandal style that will fit the shape of your child’s feet. The same applies if you have a boy with narrow feet, there is only one Keen sandal style that will fit the shape of your child’s narrow feet.
The good news is that I will be able to show you which style will fit your child’s feet depending on his unique foot shape.
I have been working for a specialized children’s shoe store for over 10 years now, and I know everything that relates to children’s shoes and the way they fit. This is a specialized shoe store that focuses on children with foot and leg problems, but we provide regular shoe fittings as well. We carry some of the most supportive children’s shoes and orthotics, and I am familiar with which shoe brands and which shoe styles are better than others.
Keen sandals are built for all-day play or afternoon exploration, and they provide the support, comfort and flexibility that developing feet need.
I will show you selection of the best Keen sandals for boys shortly, but first I want to show you what features these sandals will provide and how you can figure out your child’s exact foot size from home.
Keen Sandals for Boys – The 5 Most Important Features!
Like I mentioned before, parents love how supportive and comfortable these sandals are for their kids. The footbed of Keen sandals provide an internal support mechanism which is anatomically engineered to provide excellent arch support and cradle the natural contours of the foot.
You can rest assured that Keen sandals will take anything your child can dish out. Let’s take a look at the 5 most important features that these sandals will provide to your child’s feet:
❤️ Substantial Sole: This feature will support your kids’ feet and minimize the impact that your kids’ feet and legs take every time they come in contact with the ground.
❤️ Adjustable Hook-and-Loop Strap: This will allow your children to easily put the sandals on and take them off by themselves.
❤️ Quick-Drying Webbing: This feature will prevent your child’s feet from being wet for most of the day, it will allow the sandals to quickly dry once your child is done playing in the water.
❤️ Traction: This feature will prevent the likelihood of your child from slipping and falling down.
❤️ Machine Washable: The styles I will describe below are all machine washable. Use a small amount of detergent, wash on gentle cycle and air dry.
It’s important to note that your child won’t get any of the benefits that Keen sandals have to offer if you don’t provide him with the correct shoe size. What’s even worse, you will end up creating several foot issues to his feet such as blisters, calluses, and corns.
Which brings me to this next question: Are you 100% sure of your child’s foot size?
I always recommend parents to take their children to their local fitting children’s shoe store that they trust, the issue is that most fitting stores have been closing down and parents need to end up buying their kids’ shoes online. There is nothing wrong with this, but you must know your child’s exact foot size in order to know what size to order.
I created a map that showcases the best fitting children’s shoe stores by state, so I suggest you start by taking a look at that map:
If after looking at that map you still can’t seem to identify a shoe store in your area, then proceed to taking a look at an article along with a video I created that describes the simplest, yet most effective way to figure out your child’s foot size from home:
Now that we know what features Keen sandals will provide to your child’s feet and how to figure out your child’s foot size from home, you are ready to take a look at a selection of the best Keen sandals for boys.
The Best Keen Sandals For Boys ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I only write reviews of shoe styles that I have fitted before, otherwise I wouldn’t know how well-made they are, the amount of support that they provide, and how they fit.
Below you can find a selection of the best Keen sandals for boys. By clicking on the image you will be able to see all the different colors that the sandals are available in. The first two styles will fit a child with medium, wide, or extra wide feet.
The style below will fit a child with narrow or medium feet.
Keen sandals are not available in half sizes; they are available in whole sizes only. This factor will also play a key role in which size you will end up ordering for your child.
All of these Keen sandals style fit “true to size” which means that you need to go a half a size longer of the size that your child measures in the shoe measuring scale to allow for growing room. However, keep in mind that Keen sandals don’t come in half sizes, which means that if your child measures a foot size 10, I recommend that you get him a size 11, in order to allow for growing room.
Are Your Kids’ Keen Sandals Starting to Smell?
Several parents have contacted me asking why Keen sandals start smelling so bad after their children wear them for a couple of months. Keep in mind that most sandals that your child wears during the summer will start developing a smell. Unfortunately, there are no special products in the market right now that can help get rid of the smell, so don’t waste any money in products thinking that they will help.
However, there is a home-based method you should try that has worked well for many families. This home-based method is used with baking soda and vinegar, and you will notice how the smell will be greatly reduced or fully eliminated. Please make sure you rub it throughout the sandal, especially in the neoprene part.
I have found that this is the most effective way to get rid of the smell.
