Nike Kids’ Shoes in Wide Widths – They Do EXIST!

Has your child with wide feet been asking you to get a pair of Nike shoes? Are you having a hard time finding a pair that will fit the shape of his/her wide feet? Can children with wide or extra wide feet wear Nike shoes? I will say that 90% of the time they can’t! With that said, certain Nike shoe styles fit wider than others and are actually available in wide widths. Let me show you a list of the best Nike kids’ shoes in wide widths based on my many years of shoe fitting experience.

Pro Tip: If you’re pressed for time, you can go straight to the selection of Nike kids’s shoes in wide widths.

Has Your Child with Wide Feet Been Asking You for a Pair of Nike Shoes?

When it comes to apparel and footwear, Nike is one of the most trustworthy and popular brands all over the world. As children grow up, they start asking about more fashion-oriented shoe brands and Nike is a brand that caters to everyone’s style needs, kids and adults alike. They innovate new designs and types of shoes according to the specific desires of their customers. However, their main flaw is that they offer very few shoe styles for children with wide feet.

Many parents have asked me one common question: Why doesn’t Nike manufacture more sneakers for children with wide feet? I don’t know the answer to this question, because there are a lot of children with wide and extra wide feet out there that are not able to wear Nike shoes because the shoes are too narrow for their feet.

What can you do if your child has wide or extra wide feet and wants to wear a pair of Nike shoes? Are you going to let them wear the shoes anyway? Wouldn’t that end up creating all sorts of foot issues?

The Importance of Fitting Your Child in the Correct Pair of Shoes

Wearing shoes that are too narrow can lead to your child developing foot issues such as blisters, calluses, and corns. The good news is that I found a couple of Nike shoe styles that can fit the shape of a child with wide feet.

At the children’s shoe store that I work for we carry every single shoe style that Nike manufactures in wide widths. We carry them because we are a fitting shoe store, so our main goal is to provide children with shoes that fit. We also have a lot of children with wide and extra wide feet that visit our store.

When I mention that we carry shoes in wide widths from Nike, I am not talking about a particular Nike shoe style that fits wider than others, I am talking about styles that actually come labeled as wide (W). If your child has wide or extra wide feet and has been asking you for a pair of Nike sneakers, you don’t have to compromise on the fit anymore!

Let me show you the 2 key features that the Nike shoes I recommend provide that make them capable of fitting children with wide feet.

What Makes the Nike Shoes I Recommend Effective for Wide Feet?

In addition to being labeled as wide (W), the Nike shoes I recommend provide these 2 features:

1️⃣ Extra Depth: This feature allows the child’s feet to fit deeply inside the shoes and prevents the top part of the feet (instep) from rubbing against the top part of the shoes. Let me show you the difference in depth between one of the Nike shoes I recommend versus another Nike shoe style:

2️⃣ Rounder Toe-Boxes: This feature prevents the child’s toes from overlapping or rubbing against one another or the side of the shoes. Let me show you how the toe-box of one of the Nike shoes I recommend looks compared to a different pair of Nike shoes. These shoes are the same size, but do you notice how much rounder the toe-box of the shoe on the right is?

Parents are always trying to provide their kids with a pair of shoes that they like, but at the same time, they should never compromise the fit of the shoe. If your child is asking you for Nike sneakers but happens to have wide feet, there are specific Nike shoe styles that actually do come in wide widths and I will help you find them.

Before I show you a selection of the best Nike kids’ shoes in wide widths, I want to make sure that you are 100% sure of your child’s foot size. You won’t be able to order the correct shoe size online if you don’t know your child’s foot size to begin with.

Are You Convinced of Your Child’s Foot Size?

If you are unsure about what foot size your child is, you should take a look at an article I wrote where I describe the simplest, yet most effective way to figure out your child’s foot size from home.

In that article I help parents determine their child’s exact foot size and whether the child has narrow, medium, wide, or extra wide feet. I also will be able to tell you whether your child has a high instep or not.

Without further ado, let’s take a look at a selection of the best Nike shoes for kids with wide feet. Disclosure: Some links in this post may be affiliate links and we may receive a small commission (at no extra cost to you) when you click our links and make purchases.

The Best Nike Kids’ Shoes in Wide Widths

Please note that if the Nike shoes below are not labeled as wide (W) that means that they fit naturally wide and provide extra depth and rounded toe-boxes.

Some of the Nike shoes I recommend are available with velcro, which is a smart, durable, and easy way to provide your children with the independence that they always wanted, and your children will never have to worry about tying the shoelaces anymore.

Some children might not be ready to wear shoes with shoelaces, either because they don’t want to learn how to tie them, or because they have weak fine motor skills. If this is the case with your child, you can provide him or her with a pair of velcro sneakers or toggle shoelaces.

There are many cases of children tripping and falling and becoming severely injured due to untied shoelaces. Therefore, it is important to tie shoelaces properly or provide your child with an alternative.

Can Children with Extra Wide Feet Wear Nike Shoes?

Nike is a very popular brand among not just young children, but adults as well. The older children get the more they will start caring about what they wear, and peer pressure at school might lead them to choose fashion over comfort.

I have helped numerous children at the shoe store that I work for, and they tell me they want to wear Nike shoes because that’s what their friends wear. I totally get that, and as long as the shoes fit, you should be able to provide your kids with the shoes that they want to wear.

If your child happens to have extra wide feet and is not able to fit in any of the Nike shoe styles above, there are other types of shoes that will fit the shape of his/her feet better.

Children with extra wide feet always have a hard time finding shoes that fit, especially because there are not that many shoe styles available in extra wide widths (XW). That is the reason why I decided to create a post where I describe the best shoes for children with extra wide feet.

Making Kids Happy – Provide Them with the Shoes They Always Wanted!

If your child with wide feet has been begging you to get a pair of Nike sneakers for a long time, you don’t have to compromise the fit anymore. I have seen several instances where parents bring their kids to the shoe store to get them good, sturdy, supportive, and well-fitting shoes, but they soon realize that their child had a particular shoe style in mind.

Keep in mind that if your child is experiencing any sort of foot or leg pain, you must stay away from Nike sneakers. There are other types of shoes that are more substantial and supportive that will help reduce or fully eliminate the pain that your child is experiencing. I wrote a post where I describe the best shoes brands for children who are experiencing foot or leg pain and you can find it here:

As kids get older and start asking for more stylish shoe brands, Nike happens to be at the top of their list.

Young parents are always trying to provide their kids with stylish shoes, and sometimes they forget about the importance of well-fitting and supportive shoes. My goal as a shoe fitter has always been to provide kids and parents with both comfort and style!
