I have been working for a specialized children’s shoe store for over 10 years now that focuses on helping children with foot and leg problems, but we provide regular shoe fittings as well. Over the years I became familiar with the best shoes, insoles, and orthotics for kids who are experiencing foot or leg pain.
I only review insoles and orthotics that I have fitted before, as that is the only way for me to tell how well-made they are, the amount of support that they provide, and how they fit.
What Are the Best Superfeet Insoles for Kids?
The blue and green colored Superfeet insoles are the most popular ones for children. The green one works better in your kids’ regular sneakers, while the blue ones work better in your kids’ sport shoes.
These insoles have proven to be one of the most effective ones for children that are flat footed and are experiencing foot or leg pain. If fitted in the correct type of shoes, these insoles will significantly reduce or fully eliminate your child’s foot and leg pain.
Superfeet insoles are effective in realigning your child’s body posture as well as strengthening their muscles. They reduce and eliminate general foot pain, arch pain, heel pain & plantar fasciitis. They also might be a short-term solution to your child’s foot problems if early intervention is provided.

If you have tried these insoles for your child before, please let us know in the comments section below how they worked for them.
My son wears an 8.5 shoe and his foot is a touch wide. He has been diagnosed with Sever’s disease. He plays football and basketball. We have tried heel cups, orthotics, and braces. What type of football cleat and basketball shoe would you recommend? Currently he is wearing Nike Alpha molded cleats and he is having trouble.
Hello Shane,
Please find below my recommendations:
Football Cleat For the football cleat try the size 9 because they fit short.
Baseball Cleat
Please make sure that your son ties the shoes properly. The tighter that he ties them the more support and stability that he will get when playing.
I hope this helps.
Thank you so much for the help. The dr said he has flat feet and that and he has overpronation. He has struggled with this for about 3 years. He is now 11. I see you recommend the superfeet orthotics. We have used Spenco and others. Do you ever recommend that a kid has custom orthotics made? Also, any other suggestions that you have to help him. We started tying the shoes how your article mentioned. Any and all help is extremely appreciated.
Hi Shane,
I have seen cases of children with strong overpronation that were effectively treated by over the counter insoles/orthotics, and we never had to use custom ones. If you feel like your child needs a more supportive insoles/orthotic then I recommend you check the Cascade Dafo website and try the Pattibob orthotic.
It’s important that he wears everyday shoes that provide a substantial sole and a firm heel counter. Which shoe style is your son wearing right now?
He is currently wearing under Armour shoes for his everyday use. What shoe do you recommend for that? And could you give me a specific orthotic you would recommend he try?
Hi Shane,
I don’t recommend Under Armour shoes because they don’t provide the correct amount of support. In addition, Under Armour shoes will fit only people with narrow to medium width feet.
These are the shoes I recommend for everyday use:
Shoe with substantial sole and firm heel counter: Option 1
Shoe with substantial sole and firm heel counter: Option 2
Shoe with substantial sole and firm heel counter: Option 3
As far as the orthotics concern, if your child will be wearing a supportive shoe, you can start by trying a pair of Superfeet and see how well they work for his feet. If you feel like you want to start with a more substantial orthotic, then try the one made by Cascade. Below you can find the links to the orthotics/insoles:

I hope this helps. Keep me posted.
