The Best Shoelaces – Guaranteed to Stay Tie!

Do you feel like your child’s shoelaces become untied all the time? Are you frustrated about having to keep tying your kids’ shoes every time they become untied? Untied shoelaces can compromise your child’s stability and make your child more prone to injuries. I am going to show you which are the best shoelaces for children.

If you have been looking for a pair of shoelaces for your child that are durable and don’t untie as often, then you came to the right place! Stop getting frustrated about your children’s shoelaces becoming untied all the time.

I know that shoelaces might sound like a minor issue for most parents, but for some parents not having to re-tie their kids’ shoelaces (or their own) ten times a day sounds more like a miracle!

There are certain shoelaces that once you make them tie, they tend to stay tied much better than any other type of shoelace. The shoelaces that I recommend come with little bubbles running intermittently along the length of the shoelace, and they hold the shoelaces so they don’t come untied. They are made of 100% polyester, extremely well-made which makes them hold up better than any other regular shoelace.

Do these shoelaces actually exist? Are they as special as I claim them to be? Yes, they are!

My Experience Fitting Children’s Shoes – Over a Decade of Shoe Fitting Experience!

I have been working at a children’s shoe store for over 10 years now, and we specialize in fitting children with “complicated” foot shapes as well as foot problems. Several of these children need to wear orthotics in their shoes, which in most cases require a shoe that comes with shoelaces.

I have tried all types of shoelaces, wide, skinny, waxed… you name it! At the children’s shoe store that I work for, parents are always complaining about their kids’ shoelaces coming untied all the time. For those children that wear orthotic inserts, a pair of shoes with laces provides them with better support and more stability. Making sure your child is wearing the proper shoelaces is important to prevent the shoes from coming untied all the time, since that can lead to falls and injuries.

What Makes These Shoelaces So Special? The Adjustable Grip!

As I mentioned before, these types of shoelaces are made of polyester and with little bubbles running intermittently along the length of the shoelace. These bubbles catch and hold the laces so they don’t come untied. If your child is involved in competitive sports, you should definitely put a pair of these shoelaces in his/her cleats. This will prevent your child from having to stop to re-tie his or her cleats.

The last thing you want your child worrying about when he is running on the field is his shoes becoming untied! When a child is playing a sport, he is running faster and sprinting, and a pair of untied shoelaces can make him fall and hurt himself.

Which brings me to this question: Does your child know how to tie his shoes? If he doesn’t, I wrote a post where I describe the best shoe tying method for children. Go to the link below:

No More Double Knotting Required! – The Laces Won’t Come Undone

Aside from its visual style which is interesting, these shoelaces provide a unique characteristic: once tied in a simple bow knot they stay tied! You won’t have to double-knot your kids’ shoes anymore, and no, they are not hard to untie!

I still remember this family that kept complaining about their kids’ shoelaces coming untied all the time. After replacing his kids’ shoelaces and having such a positive experience with the “bubble” shoelaces, one of the parents decided to come back to the shoe store and purchase an extra six pairs since he wanted to replace all his family’s shoelaces.

Shoelaces should not be too short or too long. If they are too short, your child will have the hardest time learning how to tie them. If the shoelaces are too long, they will end up getting caught on things and your child might step on them putting your child at risk of falling.

Take a look at the picture below to find out exactly what shoelace length your child needs —depending on how many eyelets your child’s shoes have.

Is your child always coming home from school or daycare with untied shoes? These bubble laces will solve the problem. Your child’s shoes will stay tied all day long and they aren’t hard to untie the double knots! Finally, after centuries someone solved the loose shoelace challenge.

The Alternative to Tying Shoelaces – Toggle Shoe Laces

Sometimes getting the right pair of shoelaces is not enough! You must teach your child how to tie his or her shoelaces properly. However, if your kids are not ready to learn how to tie their shoelaces just yet, stop forcing them to!

Most girls start learning how to tie their shoes when they reach age 6. It takes boys a little longer, and they normally start learning how to tie their shoes by the time they reach age 7 or 8.

Your kids won’t learn until they are ready! In the meantime, you can provide them with a pair of toggle shoelaces. Also called lock laces, these devices are an alternative to tying shoes. Your child will only have to press a button to make the laces tight, and press it again to loosen them and take his shoes off.

Yes, is that simple! Even adults wear them!

If you think this might be a good alternative for your child, I wrote a post where I describe the best toggle shoelaces for kids. The post is called:

  1. Wow!! Great post!! I don’t have kids, but these shoe laces seem like they’d be pretty good to go in my running shoes!! haha… I like to do long distance when the weather’s nice – and my laces are always coming undone!! Seems like a pretty ingenious idea, putting bubbles in them, to me!!
    Thank you for sharing!! 🙂

    • I have tried those laces myself and they work wonderfully. As a runner and a soccer player myself, not having to worry about my shoe laces becoming untie is a huge plus for me. You will love these shoe laces, definitely the best shoe laces I have ever tried!

  2. I tried these shoe laces on my child shoes and they work great! My child always had such a problem keeping his shoes tied and they were falling apart fast because he will keep stepping on them. The “bubble laces” work great, they stay tie and I don’t have to worry about my child falling over them anymore! Thank you!

    • Steph,

I am glad you had a good experience with them! I have tried them myself and they are the best shoe laces I have ever tried!

  3. What an amazing invention! I can completely see the logic in these laces staying tied, especially since you have shown an image of the bubble feature. Our daughter is a little older now, but still at primary school and where we have the most trouble is during sports. We have to use double knots, which then become really hard to untie when you want to take the shoe off again afterwards. I am getting her a pair to try it out!

    • Mara,

You won’t be disappointed! They do work, and I have tested on children shoes and adult shoes as well. You will see what difference they will make, specially when she is playing a sport.

  4. Wow! I learnt something practical from this post. The bubble laces are simple yet clever! I’ll be sure to mention it to anyone who has problems keeping their shoe laces tied! Going to check out the price at the nearest shoe shop when I can.

What should we look out for when purchasing bubble laces?

    • Regina,

They are the best shoe laces I have ever had. I have tested in several children shoes and parents love them because of how they stay tied and their durability. Amazon offers the best price for them! You should make sure you purchase the right size, so take a look in the post at the image I provide which tells you what length to get depending on how many holes the shoe has.

  5. Hello Juan, I love hearing about those shoe laces. They are great for all ages, and probably most important for children, people with gate disabilities and elders. Plus their great for anybody that’s had a challenge keeping their shoes tied. I’ll be letting people know about these shoe laces and I’ve bookmarked your site for further reference.

    Thanks, Sophie

  6. Remember the 1990s Velcro Fad? I had a pair and loved it because it don’t come undone. When those shoes fell apart, I couldn’t find new ones. Instead I could only find shoes with one strip on top. So, I’d use it to seatbelt the knot. It worked, but alas you couldn’t find those shoes anymore, so it was back to shoes coming undone all over again. How stupid. Some fashion designer decrees we revert to a “technology” from 10,000 years ago that plain doesn’t work. Nowadays, I buy a pair of shoes and tie them once with a shoe clerk knot (double knot) then slip them on and off. Now, shoe companies use round laces that still come undone even with a shoe clerk knot – until you add a drop of glue. Why are we going BACKWARD?!

  7. Who doesn’t love getting packages in the mail? How about great deals? Right now I’m excited to bring you a deal on the Best Shoelaces. That’s right, the best shoelaces guaranteed to stay tied.
