The Best Snow Boots For Toddlers – Keep Your Kids’ Feet Warm And Dry!

Children Waterproof Snow Boots

Have you been searching/looking for a pair of good winter boots for your toddler? Do you need a pair of boots that are lightweight and flexible, so your toddler can walk and play comfortably in the snow?

It’s important to keep your toddler’s feet dry and warm during the winter season, so they can play and have fun without their feet getting wet and cold.

Most parents are not aware that buying snow boots for toddlers requires more consideration than they anticipated. Stay away from heavy clunky snow boots and please consider that snow boots are not meant for long distance walking, they are meant for your toddler to play with them for a short of period of time.

Parents are always asking me which are the best snow boots for toddlers that are still mastering all the skills of walking. Walking around in the snow is hard enough and if you don’t provide the correct type of boots for your toddler you will make it even more challenging. Certain snow boots can be very heavy and inflexible leaving new walkers feeling unsure of their steps because they can’t feel the ground beneath their feet.

Some toddlers don’t have a lot of stability and winter boots tend to be heavier and can cause your toddler to have trouble walking. It’s important to find a winter boot that is lightweight and flexible so your toddler can walk and play without his or her feet and legs feeling tired.

I have been contacted by several parents that have been looking for a pair of snow boots for their children and most of them require that the boots provide the three following features:

  • Lightweight
  • Flexible
  • Waterproof

If we find a snow boot that provides all of those features and is also the correct shoe size, then your toddler can look forward to a great winter season!

I always tell parents that it doesn’t matter how many features a particular shoe style can provide for your child, if it’s not fitted properly your child won’t get any of the benefits that the shoes have to offer. What’s even worse, you will end up creating several foot issues to your child’s feet such as blisters, calluses, and corns.

Getting the correct shoe size is EXTREMELLY IMPORTANT if you want to keep your kids’ feet and legs healthy. I always recommend parents to take their children to their local kids’ shoe store where a shoe fitter can properly measure their feet and find shoes accordingly.

The issue is that most parents don’t have a local shoe store in their area that they TRUST and must end up buying their kids’ shoes online. If you are one of those parents, please START by reading an article I wrote where I describe the simplest, yet most effective way to figure out your child’s shoe size:

When children see snow for their first time their faces turn into joy. In order for your child to have fun playing in the snow he or she will need a good pair of snow boots, because nothing ruins snow play like having wet and cold feet.

Before I show you a selection of the best snow boots for toddlers, let’s take a look at what features these snow boots will provide for your toddler.

The Best Snow Boots For Toddlers – The Features!

In order to keep your toddler’s feet healthy, a snow boot must provide the following features:

  • The snow boot must be waterproof (in order to keep your toddler’s feet dry and warm).
  • The snow boot must be insulated (this will keep your child’s feet warm).
  • The snow boot must be lightweight and flexible (this will prevent your toddler’s feet and legs from getting tired).
  • The snow boot must provide good traction (this will prevent your toddler from slipping and falling down).
  • The snow boot must come with a temperature rated to at least -30 Fahrenheit in order to keep your toddler’s feet warm.
  • If the snow boot comes with an anti-microbial insole that will provide odor protection to keep your toddler’ s feet feeling fresh and healthy.

Can we find a snow boot that provides all of these features?

Yes, we can! I have fitted them before and I will show you exactly which ones they are.

One important factor I always try to explain to parents is how most toddlers have wide or extra wide feet. With my experience of fitting children’s shoes, I can confidently say that 80% of the toddlers I have fitted have wide or extra wide feet.

I don’t know if you have noticed this before, but It’s very hard to find seasonal footwear that fits children with wide or extra wide feet.

Don’t worry! If you have a toddler with wide or extra wide feet, the snow boots that I will describe below will fit the shape of his or her feet as well.

The Best Snow Boots For Toddlers – The Secret Revealed!

Please keep in mind that I only review and recommend shoes for children that I have fitted before, since that is the only way I can feel the quality of the shoes and also know how the shoe fits.

Shoes can run short, long, narrow, or wide, and depending on how they run you need to adjust what shoe size you will provide for your child.

For example, if your child measures a size 12 in the shoe measuring scale but the shoes that you choose for him/her run short, you will have to provide your child with a shoe size 13 in order to allow for growing room instead of 12 ½ (since the shoes run short). On the other hand, if the shoes run long and your child measures a shoe size 12 in the shoe measuring scale, then you will have t provide your child with a shoe size 12 or 12 ½ (since the shoes already run long).

Here you can find a selection of the best snow boots for toddlers:

These snow boots fit “short”, which means that you need to go a whole size longer of the size that your child measures in the shoe measuring scale in order to allow for growing room. You should leave enough growing room for your toddler to be able to wear them for the whole winter season.

Remember how I told you that these snow boots will fit a child with wide r extra wide feet?

The main reason for this is that they are deep and come with a nice round toe-box that will prevent your toddler’s toes from rubbing and overlapping against each other.

One issue that parents usually complain about is how their kids’ snow boots are always falling off. Finding a pair of snow boots for your toddler that will stay on during snow play can be tough. The good news is that these snow boots come with a velcro strap in the back to hug your kids’ feet and prevent the boots from falling off.

Kids’ Socks For Snow Boots – Keep Your Kids’ Feet Healthy!

Socks do so much more than act as a barrier between your kids’ feet and the shoes. They prevent the formation of blisters and the build-up of bacteria inside the shoes.

The socks that you want to provide your toddler to wear with his or her snow boots should be tall socks made out of wool. Some parents tend to make the mistake of thinking that the thicker the socks the better (when it comes to providing their children with a pair of warm socks). This is untrue, because it’s all about the material the socks are made of.

I always recommend parents to choose socks made of Merino wool which is a soft, breathable and moisture-wicking fabric. Another great feature of merino wool socks is that they are also antimicrobial, which will reduce smelly feet and also help get rid of that clammy, sweaty smell you child typically gets after wearing snow boots.

If you need a pair of socks for your toddler to wear with his or her snow boots, you can find the best selection here:

These winter wool socks are very soft and will provide comfort to your toddler’s feet. Allow your toddler to have fun during the winter seasons by keeping his or her feet dry and warm!

Now that you know which are the best snow boots for toddlers and how to make sure you provide your child with the correct shoe size, you are ready to keep your toddler’s feet warm, dry and healthy!

Do you have a children’s shoe store in your area that you take your children to be fitted for shoes? Parents are always asking me if I know about good children’s shoe stores in their area where they can take their children to be properly fitted for shoes, so if you have a shoe store that you trust, please let us know where you are located since other parents will find that information very helpful.
