There are only a few Star Wars shoes left that provide the correct amount of comfort and support for your kids’ feet. A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away… What is it about Star Wars movies that make them as popular as ever even after 40 years of their first film, still catching the imaginations of multiple generations?! Can someone explain to me how kids have become so obsessed with a 35-year-old movie that they have never seen?
I have been working at a children’s shoe store for over 10 years now, and parents tell me that the Force has taken over their households too. Children come to the store asking for a pair of Star Wars shoes! Most parents can’t explain and are amused by their kids’ Star Wars obsession.
In the United States, people spend around $500 million every year on “Star Wars products”.
The Star Wars movies have pretty much everything a child likes: spaceships, creatures that look like dinosaurs or teddy bears, and plenty of other fantastic characters.
At the shoe store where I work, I have seen an increasing amount of Star Wars products being made by shoe companies such as Skechers and Stride Rite. We went from having 1 or 2 styles of Star Wars shoes, to having 10 to 15 different shoe styles for kids to choose from.
Lately, children have been more vocal than ever when they have been asking their parents for Star Wars shoes. However, if you have read any of my previous posts, you should know by now that the one thing I care about the most is providing children with shoes that provide support to be worn as everyday sneakers.
I will describe the best Star Wars sneakers for kids that can be worn as everyday sneakers.
Should I Let My Child Run and Play in His Star Wars Shoes?
Absolutely! If you choose one of the supportive styles I recommend, you can let your kids run around and play at recess, on the playground, or even kick the ball around the soccer field.
However, if your children are somewhat serious about playing a particular sport, you should invest in a pair of sport related shoes to perform at their best. Most of these shoes are available in velcro closure, but some styles come with shoelaces. Remember that if your child has any sort of stability issue, you should always choose shoelaces instead of velcro closure.
Are Star Wars Shoes Appropriate for Everyday Wear?
It all depends on the style you choose for your child to wear. Some Star Wars shoes are too bulky, too heavy, or not flexible enough to be worn as everyday sneakers. However, there are a few styles that are appropriate for everyday wear, and I have fitted them all before.
Skechers is a shoe company that makes several pairs of Star Wars shoes. The company has come a long way in creating more substantial, supportive, flexible shoes for kids. It seems like every year they top their previous shoe styles.
If I would have written this post two years ago, I would have written that Star Wars shoes are not appropriate for everyday wear, but some of the shoes they are making now, allow kids to play and run all day and provide them with the support they need.
There are a few Star Wars shoes that are lightweight, with a substantial outsole and a firm heel counter. Allow your child to wear his or her favorites shoes, while you get the peace of mind that the shoes are providing the support they need to keep their feet and legs healthy.
For the longest time, I remember kids with wide feet complaining to their parents that they didn’t have any light up shoe choices when it came to choosing their shoes. Now, even if your child has a wide foot, he or she will be able to find that perfect pair of Star Wars shoes that they have been wanting to get for a long time.
The Star Wars shoes below can fit children with medium or wide feet. Disclosure: Keep in mind that we may receive commissions when you click our links and make purchases.

When reading your article, it seems as if you are writing about my son 🙂 He hasn’t seen Star Wars movie but he started to ask for different Star Wars products, also shoes. We bought him Crocs Star Wars clogs and he was happy about them. Not sure though whether or not they are good for his feet – do you have any experience with Crocs?
Arta,
Children love Crocs! However, is not the most supportive type of footwear. I only recommend children wearing them for a short period of time, no more than 5 hours a day. I actually wrote a post about Crocs that you will benefit it from reading and it’s called:
Crocs for Children – Is Your Child in Danger when Wearing Crocs?
Thanks for the info. My 3 year old has the most bizarre shaped feet I have every seen, they are not like either her mother or fathers! She has a supernarrow heel and then her feet are shaped like a pie into super wide stubby toes. But that’s not the only problem sizing her, her feet are also really high, like she has extra fat on the top of her foot. Do you have any suggestions for this foot type? They don’t need to be starwars but something lightweight and durable.
Joy,
I think you are trying to tell me that your child has a narrow foot with a very high instep. Did you knwo that there are certain shoes that will fit the shape of her foot better? Read this post: The Best Shoes For High Instep – Stop Getting The Wrong Shoe Size For Your Child!

When I need a shoes for my kids I now know which website I should visit. Having read about the information you provided in choosing kids’ shoes now I understand the importance of shoes that are fitted properly.
No matter how nice your kids’ shoes are or how much your child begs to get a particular shoe, it’s not worth getting the if they won’t be comfortable on their feet.
Children need to wear a shoes that would protect their feet and legs as they play and getting hyper the whole day. I think this article of yours is very helpful among parents.
Indeed children shoes are important. That’s why the Star Wars shoes I recommend in my post are the most supportive and flexible ones. I am very careful about the shoes I recommend for kids’, if I haven’t fitted them before or I am not 100% confident about the support they provide, they won’t make it to my website.
If you are looking to provide your child with some of the most supportive shoes for kids’, you can read this post that describes them:

Thanks for a good sharing about the Star Wars kids shoe. It can be seen that you put more attention towards the suitability and comfort of the shoe, rather than the outer design alone. I fully agree with you that parents should be more careful when buying shoes for their kids. A wrong shoe size will affect their feet as they grown up and it can bring several foot and leg issues.
I love that these slippers come with good grippers so the child will not slip and fall round the house!
Indeed the support and structure of the shoe should always take priority over the design. However, some children will choose their shoes just based on how they look, instead of how they feel! If you don’t have a children’s shoe store in your area, here is a post that will explain you how to make sure your kids’ shoes fit:
How Can I Make Sure My Kids’ Shoes Fit? – Learn The Secret Here!
You’re right, there really is a fine line between fashion/toys and what is actually good for kids, so it’s great to know that there is actually Star Wars and popular designs that do take into consideration how important support is when it comes to shoes, especially when it concerns our kids! I’ve checked out some of your other posts too, I didn’t realize there was so much to know about children’s shoes!
Kegan,
I was actually happy to see Skechers improve their kids Star Wars shoe styles. These shoes have become really soft and flexible, when they used to be heavy and un-supportive. I hope you have a kids’ shoe store in your area where you can take them to have their feet properly measured!
