Has your child with wide feet been asking you to get a pair of Nike shoes? Are you having a hard time finding a pair that will fit the shape of his/her wide feet?
When it comes to apparel and footwear, Nike is one of the most trustworthy and popular brands all over the world. As children grow up they start asking about more fashion oriented shoe brands. Nike is a brand that caters to everyone’s needs, kids and adults alike. They innovate new designs and types of shoes according to the specific desires of their customers. However, their main flaw is that they offer very few shoe styles for children with wide feet.
Many parents have asked me one common question: Why doesn’t Nike make kids’ sneakers in wide widths?
I don’t really know the answer to this question, because there are a lot of children with wide and extra wide feet out there that are not able to wear Nike shoes because the shoes are too narrow for their feet.
Can children with wide or extra wide feet wear Nike shoes? I will say that 90% of the time they can’t!
There are only a few shoe styles available that come in wide widths and will fit a child with wide or extra wide feet, and I know which ones they are from having fitted them before.
I have been fitting children’s shoes for over 10 years now, working for a specialized children’s shoe store that specializes in children with foot and leg problems., but we provide regular shoe fittings as well. Providing your children with the correct shoe size which involves the correct shoe length as well as the correct shoe width is extremely important if you want to keep your kids’ feet and legs healthy.
As kids get older and start asking for more fashion oriented shoe brands, Nike happens to be on the top of their list.
What can you do if your child has wide or extra wide feet? Are you going to let them wear the shoes anyways? Wouldn’t that end up creating all sort of foot issues?
Providing your child with a pair of shoes that are too narrow will create all sort of foot issues such as blisters, calluses, and corns, as well as foot and leg pain.
Parents are always trying to provide their kids with a pair of shoes that they like, but at the same time they should never compromise on the fit of the shoe. If your child is asking you for Nike sneakers but happens to have wide feet, there are specific Nike shoe styles that actually do come in wide widths and I will help you find them.
Let me show you a selection of the best Nike shoes for kids who have wide feet, so you can make them happy and keep their feet and legs healthy at the same time.
Nike Sneakers for Kids with Wide Feet – Do They Exist?
Yes, they do!
In fact, at the children’s shoe store that I work for we carry every single shoe style that Nike manufactures in wide widths. We carry them because we are a fitting shoe store, so our main goal is to provide children with shoes that fit. We also have a lot of children with wide and extra wide feet that visit our store.
When I mention that we carry shoes in wide widths from Nike, I am not talking about a particular Nike shoe style that fits wider than others, I am talking about styles that actually come labeled as wide (“W”). If your child has wide or extra wide feet and has been asking you for a pair of Nike sneakers, you don’t have to compromise on the fit anymore!
As they get older, children begin to refuse to wear anything other than shoes they believe look stylish.
Style VS Comfort – Let’s Provide Your Child with Both!
There are several Nike shoe styles that don’t provide the support and structure that your kids need to perform their every day activities and keep their feet and legs healthy.
The good news is that there are certain Nike shoe styles that not only look stylish and come in wide widths, but they will also provide great support to your children’s feet.
If you would like to provide your child with lightweight and flexible shoes, Nike caters to those needs. Nike tends to make shoes that are extremely lightweight and flexible, so your child can comfortably run around all day without their shoes feeling too heavy and their legs getting tired.
Nike is a very popular brand among not just young children, but adults as well. The older children get the more they will start caring about what they wear, and peer pressure at school might lead them to choose fashion over comfort.
The Nike shoe styles that I will describe below are not just available in wide widths, but they are also some of the most durable, supportive, and flexible styles. Because these shoes are made of good, quality materials, they will guarantee that your children will outgrow their shoes before they destroy them.
I have helped numerous children at the shoe store that I work for, and they tell me they want to wear Nike shoes because that’s what their friends wear. I totally get that, and as long as the shoes fit, you should be able to provide your kids with the shoes that they want to wear.

Tired of Tying Your Kids’ Shoes? – The Best Alternatives
Some children might not be ready to wear shoes with shoelaces, either because they don’t want to learn how to tie them, or because they have weak fine motor skills. If this is the case with your child, you can provide him or her with a pair of Velcro sneakers or toggle shoelaces.
There are many cases of children tripping and falling and becoming severely injured due to untied shoelaces. Therefore, it is important to tie shoelaces properly or provide your child with an alternative.
