velcro-shoes-for-toddlers-with-wide-feet

Are you looking for a pair of velcro shoes that are capable of fitting your child’s wide feet? Do you usually struggle to get your child’s shoes on and off and would love for your child to wear shoes that open up widely? If you are looking for the perfect pair of velcro shoes that can accommodate your child’s wide feet you came to the right place, as I have over 10 years of shoe fitting experience. I will show you a list of the best velcro shoes for kids with wide feet that I have fitted before.

Before we move any forward, have you ever noticed red marks on the top part of your child’s feet? That part of the foot is called the instep, and some children in addition to having wide feet have high insteps as well. The instep is the top part of your child’s foot, and when it’s high, it makes it more challenging to find shoes that fit. Take a look at the image below to visualize where the instep of the foot is located:

Does your child have a high instep? Don’t worry! All of the velcro shoes that I recommend are capable of accommodating children with wide feet and high insteps as well!

Velcro Shoes for Kids with Wide Feet – 3 Key Features

The velcro shoes that I recommend for children with wide feet provide these 3 important features:

1️⃣ Round Toe-Boxes

Shoes with round toe-boxes allow extra space for the child’s toes and prevent them from overlapping or rubbing against one another or the side of the shoes. This is a key feature if your child has wide feet as it helps prevent the child from developing blisters, corns, or ingrown toenails.

Let’s take a look at an image of two velcro shoes that are the same size in length and width (they are both a little kid size 11). Do you notice how the New Balance shoe on the right has a rounded toe-box compared to the Nike shoe on the left? I will provide you with a link to this New Balance shoe shortly.

2️⃣ Oversized Openings

This feature is important for parents or children who struggle to get their shoes on and off. The wider the shoes open up, the easier it will be for parents and children to get the shoes on and off.

3️⃣Extra Depth

Shoes with extra depth allow the child’s feet to sit deeply and comfortably inside of the shoes. Have you ever noticed red marks on the top part of your child’s feet? This is an awesome feature as it increases comfort and prevents the top part of your child’s feet and toes from rubbing against the top part of the shoes. Take a look at the image below for better visualization purposes:

These are the 3 most important features that your kids’ velcro shoes must provide if you have a child with wide feet. With that said, the velcro shoes that I recommend for children with wide feet provide these 3 additional features:

  • Breathable
  • Durable
  • Supportive but lightweight and flexible at the same time

Do You Prefer to Shop at Your Local Shoe Store or Online?

It’s important to have your child’s feet properly fitted at your local shoe store to make sure that they are wearing the shoes in the correct size. For example, I have noticed that some parents believe that their children have wide feet when in fact they have extra wide feet. Some parents don’t even know whether their children have a high instep or not.

If you have a good fitting children’s shoe store in your area, I suggest that you take your children there to be properly sized and fitted for shoes. You will also be supporting local businesses!

If you don’t have a good-fitting children’s shoe store in your area or simply prefer to shop online, below you can find a list of the best velcro shoes for kids with wide feet. Disclosure: Keep in mind that we may receive commissions when you click our links and make purchases.

Take a look at the information below each shoe to determine:

  • The best size to order allowing for growing room
  • Other important information such as material

What Shoe Size Should You Order?

In each of the descriptions of the shoes I indicate whether you need to order a half a size or a whole size bigger than your child’s foot size to provide the correct amount of growing room.

*A half a size bigger translates to 3/16 of an inch or 0.4 centimeters of space between your child’s longest toe and the end of the shoes.

*A whole size bigger translates to 3/8 of an inch or 0.8 centimeters of space between your child’s longest toe and the end of the shoes.

Do You Notice Red Marks On Your Child’s Instep or Toes?

If you notice red marks on the top part of your child’s feet or toes as shown in the image below, that might be a sign that your kids’ shoes are either not wide or deep enough. It might also be a sign that you ordered the shoes in the wrong size (too short).

In that case, I suggest trying a different shoe and making sure that you are ordering the shoes in the correct length and width.
