Do you have a child who is always destroying his or her shoes before they are ready to be replaced? Children should always outgrow their shoes before they are ready to be replaced, but if you have a child that is really active and is always beating up his or her shoes really quickly, I will show you a selection of the most durable children’s shoes.
I have been fitting children’s shoes and orthotics for ten years at a premier children’s shoe store specializing in proper fit for over forty years. We specialize in children with foot and leg problems, but we provide regular shoe fitting as well. It’s important for us to carry top quality shoes that are available in different widths, since that’s the only way we can guarantee to FIT every single child.
I have noticed through the years that certain children are more active than others, and I have helped several parents that came to the store frustrated about their kids destroying their shoes find the correct shoe style for them.
Parents are always asking me which are the most durable kids’ shoes, since they are tired of replacing their kids’ shoes every two to three months.
There are definitely certain shoe brands and certain shoe styles that are more durable than others, but it doesn’t matter how durable or well-made the shoe is, if you don’t provide your children with the correct shoe size, they won’t get any of the benefits that the shoes have to offer and you will end up creating several foot issues to their feet.
I am always trying to emphasize to parents about the importance of getting the correct shoe size, because sometimes they get caught up on the price or style of shoe while the MOST important factor remains FIT.
I always recommend parents to take their children to their local kids’ shoe store, where a shoe fitter can properly measure their kids’ feet and find shoes accordingly. However, most family owned children’s shoe stores have been closing, and parents have to buy their shoes online. There is nothing wrong with getting your kids’ shoes online, but you must get them the correct shoe size.

The Features Of Durable Shoes – STOP Replacing Your Kids Shoes!
Before I start describing the most durable children’s shoe brands names and shoe styles, I want you to know that the price of shoes is not a reflection of the quality of the shoes. What I mean is that while a higher priced shoe tends to be made from better quality materials, you can definitely find a good pair of durable, supportive shoes at a reasonable price.
A durable shoe must provide the following features:
- Leather materials.
- Innovative stitching (extended resilience).
- Rubber sole with good traction.
- Reinforced toe-cap.
- Firm heel counter.
If we find a shoe that provides the following features, your child will be good to go! Let’s keep in mind that the shoes must also be supportive, lightweight, and breathable in order to keep your kids’ feet healthy.
One shoe brand that you might want to start getting familiar with is called Geox. This is one of the most durable children’s shoe brands, and the shoe styles are practically indestructible. I have fitted this shoe brand before and parents come back amazed about how well the shoes held up. If you want to learn more about this particular shoe brand, I describe the best GEOX shoe styles for kids in this article:

Now that you know what features a durable shoe must provide, let’s take a look at the most durable kids’ shoes!
The Most Durable Kids’ Shoes ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Depending on your child’s age, shoes should last anywhere between 3 to 6 months. What is important to understand is that your child should outgrow his or her shoes before they are ready to be replaced.
If you buy low quality and poorly made shoes that are being sold at Target or Walmart for example, don’t be surprised to replace your kids’ shoes before they outgrow them.
I have spoken with parents that have spent anywhere between 20 to 30 dollars for their kids shoes at Walmart or Target. I try to explain to them that while they are saving money, they will end up spending so much more in the future since their kids might end up developing foot issues such as blisters, calluses, and corn as well we foot and leg pain.
Trust me, I have helped hundreds of children who require an orthotic now due to not wearing the correct shoe size or the correct shoe style. Something so simple such as providing your child with the correct shoe style and the correct shoe size will keep your kids’ feet and legs healthy and save you a lot of money in the future.
Please keep in mind that I only review shoe styles that I have fitted before, since that is the only way for me to be able to tell how well-made they are, the amount of supportthat they provide and how they fit.

All of these shoe styles fit “true to size”, which means that you need a half a size longer of the size that your child measures in the shoe measuring scale in order to allow for growing room.
Parents love how versatile these shoe styles are since their children will be able to wear them for different activities. Keep in mind that the shoes are not only durable, they provide excellent support to be worn as everyday shoes for different activities, and they are lightweight and flexible at the same time. I have fitted these shoe styles before so I am familiar with the quality they provide and how they fit.
Now that you know which are the most durable kids’ shoe styles you are ready to make the most informed decision.
Don’t Forget About The Socks! – Protect Your Kids’ Feet.
Please always try to make sure that your child wears socks with his or her sneakers. Socks act as a barrier between our kids’ feet and the shoes and keeps their feet healthy by preventing the buildup of bacteria inside the shoes.
They also prevent parts of our kids’ feet from rubbing against the shoes. For example, a common place where kids’ use to get blisters is around their ankles, specially when they don’t wear socks. The constant friction between the feet and the back of the shoes leads to the formation of blisters, but a pair of socks will cushion your kids’ feet and prevent this from happening.
While I can’t get into too much detail about the importance of providing our kids’ with the correct type of socks, I wrote a post where I describe the best children’s socks and how to make sure you provide your child with the correct socks size (socks that are too short can make our kids’ toes overlap and rub against each other while socks that are too long will bunch up and feel uncomfortable).
