Have you been planning a vacation to Disney World with your kids? Are they looking forward on trying the better rides but they are missing that extra inch to be able to ride them? While parents have tried different methods to make their kids taller, the most effective and inexpensive one is to provide your child with a pair of everyday sneakers (since I assume they already need them) that come with a higher platform.
Keep in mind that shoes with higher platforms are not wacky shoes, just everyday shoes that your child can wear them for their everyday activities. Please keep in mind to be conscious about how much taller you want your child to be, since one thing is trying to gain ½ an inch or 1 inch to be able to ride all those fun rides your child was hoping for, and another very different thing is to try to gain several inches that might put your child at risk.
As long as you are trying to gain only 1 inch or less of height , it’s not that big of a deal. Disney World has height requirements for obvious safety reasons, but if your child can reach the height requirement by simply wearing different shoe styles, then the difference it’s very minuscule at best anyway!
Going to Disney World is an experience children will never forget, and most of us normally go there once in a lifetime. That’s why it’s so important to try to get the most out of it!
Please remember that when there is a height restriction on a particular ride, it isn’t there just to spoil your good time. They’re there for a good reason! SAFETY ALWAYS FIRST!
Children grow relatively quick, so don’t be surprised if by the time you get to Disney your child is already tall enough! Also, use your parenting good judgment since not all rides are the same, some of them are faster and more intense than others!
In this post, I will describe the best everyday kids’ shoes that come with a higher platform!
The Best Sneakers That Add Extra Height – Learn The Secret!
First and foremost, we must never compromise our kids’ safety and comfort. Follow the steps below in order to make ure your child is wearing comfortable, flexible, and supportive shoes, and at the same time gain that extra inch needed to enjoy all the fun rides.
The first step is to make sure that the shoes that you provide for your child are comfortable. Remember, your child will be probably wearing these sneakers for other activities besides Disney World, so we want him or her to be able to walk, run, and jump comfortably!
The second step is to find shoes that will add that extra height but at the same time will be available in different widths. I have heard several places how parents recommend Skechers shoes, since they come with a higher platform. That’s great advise for kids who have narrow to medium width feet, but if your kids have wide or extra wide feet, they won’t be able to fit in those shoes.
But… don’t panic!
If your child has wide or extra wide feet, I will provide you with a selection of shoes that are available in different widths and also come with a higher platform.
The third step is to make sure the shoes FIT properly. I have been working for a specialized children’s shoe store for over 7 years now, and we specialize in children with foot and leg issues. It’s important for shoes to be flexible, lightweight, and supportive, but if they are not fitted properly, your child won’t get any of the benefits that the shoe has to offer!
I always recommend parents to take their children to their local kids’ shoe store, to have their feet properly measured and their shoes properly fitted. However, several parents don’t have a local children’s shoe store in their area, that’s the reason why I wrote a post that explains how to make sure your child is wearing the correct shoe size and you can find that post here:
If you follow those 3 steps, you will be providing your child with an everyday shoe that he or she can wear to school and to all type of different activities.
Below you can find a selection of the best shoes that will make your child taller. The first row will fit a child with a narrow to a medium width foot, and the second row of shoes will fit a child with a wide to an extra wide foot.
While these shoes will help your child meet those height requirements needed for the fun rides, I would advise all parents to speak with their children and explain them how there are height requirements for certain rides, and how they might or might not meet those requirements.
If they don’t, no big deal—they will be able to ride them the next trip! This is important in order for your kids to not be extremely disappointed when they don’t get to experience a certain ride!
Don’t forget that your child can wear any of the shoes I describe above as their everyday shoes, even after wearing them to Disney World!
What Can You Do If Your Child Already Has Sneakers?
While I will always feel more comfortable providing my child with a pair of sneakers to make them a little taller, in certain cases parents already have shoes for their kids and don’t want to spend money in new shoes.
In case you recently got your child a new pair of sneakers, you can always insert a heel lift to raise his or her feet up and gain that extra inch. I wrote a post about heel lifts, and I explain how they are normally used when a child has a leg length discrepancy and needs a lift to match the other leg length. However, they can also be used to make our kids look a little taller.
The main advantage of providing your child with a pair of heel lifts is that you can easily know how much you are raising your kids feet up, since heel lifts come in different shapes and sizes. The other advantage is that you won’t have to buy your child another pair of sneakers!
If you want to learn more about heel lifts and which are the best styles for children you can do it in a post I wrote called:
Going To Disney World? – Wear The Right Type Of Shoes!
I have been lucky enough to go to Disney World twice, once as a kid, and recently to accompany my two cousins. This time I went I truly understood the importance of wearing the correct type of shoes to an amusement park as huge as Disney World.
Walking around with wet, heavy sneakers won’t ruin your whole Disney experience, but it will make it uncomfortable! Wearing shoes that are not secure enough will also be a nightmare when you are riding a roller coaster!
Imagine being up in the air being turned up and down… the last thing you want to do is worry about your kids or your own shoes falling off! This happened to me in the Harry Potter roller coaster, where I had to play with my feet in order for the shoes to stay on!
While I don’t want to get into too much detail about the whole experience and the struggle of walking around with wet, heavy sneakers, you will find everything you need to know about what are the best type of shoes that you can wear to Disney World in a post I wrote called:
Are you going to Disney World soon and you are afraid that your child won’t be able to get on most of the fun rides? Have you found a particular shoe style that has helped your child gained that extra inch? Please share your thoughts and experiences below so we can all benefit from them!
