Saucony Shoes for Boys Review – The Most Supportive, Lightweight, Flexible, and Affordable Style!

Editor’s Note: This post has been updated and revised for accuracy on May 2022 and reflects an up-to-date selection of Saucony shoes for boys.

I decided to review this particular shoe made by Saucony because it provides all of the features that parents want in their kids’ shoes.

Parents love how stylish, durable and affordable this shoe style is. You can always find cheaper shoes at Target, Walmart, or Payless but those shoes usually end up falling apart faster and they don’t provide the correct amount of support.

The Saucony Baby Ride 10 is the #1 choice for parents who are looking for a pair of supportive, lightweight, flexible, durable, and affordable pair of shoes for their kids.

Do you feel like you struggle every time you have to put your kids’ shoes on? Can you imagine not having to shove the shoes in your kids’ feet every time you have to put them on? I believe that this shoe style will make your life a lot easier.

My Experience Fitting Children’s Shoes

I have been working for a specialized children’s shoe store for the last 10 years. We specialize in children with foot and leg problems, but we provide regular shoe fittings as well. Over the years I became familiar with the best shoe brands for kids and the best styles among those brands.

Did you know that your child won’t get any of the benefits that the shoes have to offer if you don’t provide him with the correct shoe size? I am always emphasizing to parents to take their kids to their local children’s shoe store, where a shoe fitter can properly measure their feet and find shoes that properly fit the shape of their feet.

How to Retrieve Your Child’s Exact Foot Length and Shape

If you don’t have a local shoe store in your area, take a look at an article I wrote where I describe the simplest, yet most effective way to figure out your child’s foot size from home. Go to the link below:

How to Measure Your Kids’ Foot – 2 Simple Steps to Determine Foot Length and Foot Width

In that article I help parents determine their child’s exact foot size and whether the child has narrow, medium, wide, or extra wide feet. I also will be able to tell you whether your child has a high instep or not.

One of the most common mistakes that I see parents make is to assume that once they figure out their child’s foot size, that size automatically translates into their child’s actual shoe size. Shoes can fit short, long, narrow, or wide, and depending on how they fit you will need to adjust what size you get for your child. As a rule of thumb, we always want to provide children with half a size — 3/16 of an inch or 0.8 centimeters — of space between the longest toe and the end of the shoes.

The Saucony shoe style that I recommend is available from a toddler shoe size 4, all the way up to a little kid size 12. Without further ado, let’s take a look at the best Saucony shoes for boys.

I only review shoes that I have fitted before, as that is the only way for me to know much support the shoes provide, how well-made they are, and how they fit. Disclosure: Keep in mind that we may receive commissions when you click our links and make purchases.

What Shoe Size Should You Order?

These shoes fit “short”, which means that you need to get a whole size longer (3/8 of an inch or 0.8 centimeters) than the size that your child measures in the standard shoe measuring scale (Brannock device) to allow for growing room.

From a fitting perspective, this shoe style fits short and narrow so please follow the guidelines below when choosing your child’s shoe width:

  • If your child has narrow feet choose the medium width (M).
  • If your child has medium feet choose the wide width (W).
  • If your child has wide feet choose the extra wide width (XW).

This shoe is very reasonably priced for the quality and support that it provides. You are getting an everyday pair of sneakers for your child that he will end up outgrowing before the shoes get worn out or destroyed.

This is one of the best shoe styles for children made by Saucony. This particular shoe style has been around for about 5 straight years, and Saucony keeps making them because parents are buying their kids the same shoe over and over again — the shoe is available in different colors.

I really like the fact that this shoe style is available in different widths such as medium (M), wide (W), and extra wide (XW).

What I LIKE about this shoe style:

✅ PRO #1 The shoe style fits extremely well and it’s very versatile as it offers enough support to be worn for everyday activities.

✅ PRO #2: Easy On & Off! You won’t have to struggle every time you are putting your child’s shoes on as they open up nice and wide. If your child is old enough, he won’t have any trouble putting on the shoes by himself.

✅ PRO #3: Affordable. For all of the features that this shoe provides, I believe that is offered for a great price.

✅ PRO #4: Lightweight and Flexible. Great for children who are running around all day!

✅ PRO #5: This shoe style helps prevent bacteria from building up inside the shoes as it’s very breathable.

✅ PRO #6: This shoe style is available in different widths and comes in half sizes. While you might believe this is a given for most shoes, there are a lot of kids’ sneakers out there that are available in whole sizes only.

What I DON’T LIKE about this shoe style:

CON #1: Won’t fit a child with extra wide feet and a high instep.

CON #2: Not machine washable.

2 Comments on Saucony Shoes for Boys Review – The Most Supportive, Lightweight, Flexible, and Affordable Style!

  1. Hi there! First, let me thank you on behalf of my 5 year old son, Conner. He has had ankle pain since he was walking. I have never paid any attention to his shoes…Awful Mom award! This is why we are thanking you. Your articles are straightforward & incredibly helpful. I will be visiting our local shoe store to get him assessed by a professional. Also, I read the article on Saucony Shoes & I’m all in. My only question is regarding the velcro (I know you mentioned in another article how the Shoelaces were best)?
    Again, thanks so much.

    • Hello Joie,

Thank you and I am glad that you find the website informative! I do recommend shoes with shoelaces instead of Velcro for children who are experiencing ankle pain. The main reason for this is that shoelaces will hug his ankles better, securing them and providing more support. If you want to learn more about the best shoes for children with ankle pain you can do so in an article I wrote called:

The Best Shoes With Ankle Support

You must find a solution to your son’s ankle pain and it all STARTS with the shoes he wears. You should also consider a heel cup in case the pain doesn’t go away by wearing a pair of good, supportive shoes.

      I hope this helps!
