The Best Ugg Boots for Toddlers – The Only Style with Wider Opening and Flexible Soles!

Have you been wondering whether your toddler is ready to wear a pair of Ugg boots? Are you concerned that the boots might impede natural and healthy foot development? I have put together a selection of the best Ugg boots for toddlers, and I will show you these boots shortly.

If you have read any of my previous posts, you should know by now that I am a firm believer that children’s shoes wear shoes that are supportive but lightweight and flexible at the same time. I strongly believe that the type of shoes that children wear plays a key role in keeping their feet, legs, and lower back healthy.

I actually have fitted several toddlers for their first pair of Ugg boots, and you can have peace of mind that you won’t hurt their feet as long as they wear the boots for what they are intended to be: fashion footwear.  This means that as long as your toddler wears the boots occasionally and for no more than 4 hours a day, your toddler’s feet won’t suffer. However, not all Ugg boot styles are appropriate for toddlers to wear. Certain styles are more lightweight, flexible, and made from higher quality materials. The good news is that I know which styles are better than others from having fitted them before.

I have been working for a specialized children’s shoe store for the last 10 years, which has helped me get familiar with the best shoe brands for kids and the best shoe styles among those brands. Some of my co-workers have 20 plus years of experience, and they have taught me everything that I know about fitting children’s shoes.

Keep in mind that Ugg boots are not the most practical or versatile type of footwear for toddlers to wear. One important feature that a lot of families tend to overlook and then regret is how much time it can take to put the Ugg boots on their toddler’s feet.  It’s important for your toddler’s Ugg boots to be easy to put on and take off.

Before I show you a selection of the best Ugg boots for toddlers, let’s take a look at the 3 most important features that the Ugg boot styles I recommend provide:

✅ Wider Opening: This feature allows you to easily fit your toddler’s feet inside the boots. The boots come with an adjustable hook-and-loop closure that makes it easy to slip your toddler’s squirmy feet in and out.

✅ Lightweight and Flexible: This feature helps prevent your toddler’s feet from easily getting tired. Certain Ugg boots knockoffs tend to be extremely heavy and clunky.

✅ Good Traction: This feature helps prevent your toddler from slipping and falling, especially when walking on wet or slippery surfaces.

Here is a list of some of the drawbacks of the Ugg boots I recommend:

❌ Be aware that the boots might get smelly.

❌ The boots don’t come fully lined with fur. Even though the boots are extremely warm and comfortable, most of the fur is located at the top of the boot.

Keep in mind that your toddler must wear a pair of socks with the boots at all times to prevent the buildup of bacteria and fungus inside the boots. Skin infections like athlete’s foot and dermatitis might occur if your child is not wearing socks with the boots, since bare feet can really sweat in fur.

Now that you know what features these Ugg boots provide, you are ready to take a look at a selection of the best Ugg boots for toddlers.

I only review shoes that I have fitted before, since that is the only way for me to tell what type of quality the shoes provide as well as how supportive, durable and lightweight the shoes are. Having fitted the shoes before also allows me to tell parents how the shoes fit. Disclosure: Keep in mind that we may receive commissions when you click our links and make purchases.

As far as what size to order for your toddler, I recommend going a full size longer of your toddler’s foot size. This translates to 3/8 of an inch or 1.2 centimeters of space between your child’s longest toe and the end of the shoes.

If you are not 100% sure of your toddler’s foot size, please take a look at an article I wrote where I describe how to figure out your child’s foot size from home in 2 simple steps:

How to Measure Your Kids Foot – 2 Simple Steps to Determine Foot Length and Foot Width

In that article I help parents determine their toddler’s exact foot size and whether the toddler has narrow, medium, wide, or extra wide feet. I also will be able to tell you whether your toddler has a high instep or not.

Another reason why I recommend limiting the wear on these boots is that your toddler might get used to the extra room and comfy feeling that Ugg boots provide and refuse to wear his or her regular sneakers.

Remember that Ugg boots are designed for warmth and comfort, not performance!
