Asics Shoes for Kids – The Best Shoes for Kids with Narrow Feet!
Do you always have a hard time finding shoes for your child with narrow feet? Do you feel like you try a whole bunch of different styles but you always end up empty handed? Finding a pair of shoes for a child with narrow feet can be a frustrating and time-consuming experience, as there is only a very small selection of shoes capable of fitting kids with narrow feet.
I am familiar with which are the best shoe brands and the best shoe styles among those brands from actually having fitted and tested the shoes on different children’s feet.
What Is the Best Shoe Brand for Children with Narrow Feet?
Asics is my go-to shoe brand for children with narrow feet. The main reason for this is that they manufacture certain shoes that provide 2 key features that make them ideal for children who have narrow feet:
1️⃣ Narrow Heel Counters: This is the back part of the shoes that provides heel support and helps prevent the child’s heels from slipping out of the shoes. Children with narrow feet always have a hard time with shoes as they tend to slip off their feet. Let me show you the difference between an Asics shoe with a narrow heel counter versus another shoe with a rounder one. The shoes are the same length and width, but as you can see they will fit very differently.
2️⃣ Narrow Toe-Boxes: This is the front part of the shoes and it helps prevent too much foot movement inside of the shoes. When there is too much foot movement that constant rubbing and friction between the toes and the shoes can lead to blisters, calluses, and corns. Let’s take a look at the difference between an Asics shoe with a pointier toe-box versus a shoe with a rounder one. These shoes are also the same length and width, but they will fit very differently.
In addition to fitting narrow feet, the Asics shoes that I will recommend shortly provide excellent support, and the shoes are lightweight and flexible at the same time.
Keep in mind that I only write reviews of shoes that I have fitted before, otherwise I wouldn’t know how well-made they are, the amount of support that they provide, and how they fit. Are you 100% Sure that Your Child is Wearing the Correct Shoe Size?
Did you know that your child won’t get any of the benefits that the shoes have to offer if you don’t provide him with the correct shoe size? I am always emphasizing to parents to take their kids to their local children’s shoe store, where a shoe fitter can properly measure their feet and find shoes that properly fit the shape of their feet.
If you don’t have a shoe store in your area, I created a resource that describes the simplest, yet most effective way to figure out your child’s foot size from home.
Asics tend to be the most consistent shoe brand when it comes to manufacturing children’s shoes for narrow feet.

Is there another Asics shoe style that has worked well for your child’s narrow feet? Please share your findings below so other parents can benefit from them.
Hello,
First I want to say thank you for sharing your picks for shoes for kids with narrow feet. I have the hardest time finding anything appropriate for my daughter. Question though: do you have any suggestions for tie closure shoes? Do all ASICS brand tend to run more narrow or just the model you listed below? Thanks for your help!
Hello Natasha,
What shoe size does your daughter wear? Asics in general tend to fit narrower than other shoe brands, but certain styles definitely fit narrower than others. I actually just posted another article about the best narrow shoes for kids in 2018 if you want to check it out, you can find it here:
Narrow Shoes for Kids – The Best Narrow Everyday Shoes for Kids in 2022 Reviewed
In that article I provide options with shoelaces, but if you send me your daughter’s shoe size I can definitely send you something more specific. Thank you.
Juan, I sincerely appreciate all of your valuable information on
shoes for narrow feet. It’s very difficult to find a shoe
to fit my toddler grandson. Will you provide brand
recommendations for a boot with a narrow fit for a toddler
boy? We live in the South and don’t need a “winter” boot
specifically. Also, will Clarks or Timberland shoes provide
good support/fit for narrow feet?
Hello Mona,
I am glad that you find the information informative. Clarks boots do provide good support but they are not the best brand for a child with narrow feet. Since you live in a place where it doesn’t get that cold, I would recommend that you provide your child with a waterproof hiking boot. There is a particular hiking boot for boys made by Timberland that I have fitted before and it will FIT a child with narrow feet. It also provides good support/traction and it’s waterproof. You can find that boot below:
The Best Boot for Kids with Narrow Feet
Please let me know how it works out!
Thank you for your recommendation!! This particular style of Merrill Hiking Boot doesn’t appear to be available for a toddler boy size 7. Will any other Merrill style of “non winter” boot work well in this size for a narrow foot? Also, do you recommend any of the European brands of boots for toddler boy with narrow foot needing good support?
Hello Mona,
I don’t know any other Merrell boot style that fits narrow. However, Naturino and Primigi are both really good european shoe brands for kids and they will fit a child with a narrow foot. The issue is that they tend to be more for cold weather.
I have fitted a style before which is waterproof but won’t make your child’s feet as hot. The boot is made by naturino and you can find it here:
Naturino Boy Boots for Narrow Feet
Naturino Boy Boots for Narrow Feet
That is a really good choice since it is waterproof, provides good support, and it’s lighweight and flexible AND it will FIT your boy with narrow feet. Good luck!
We ordered this Naturino boot recommended for my
2 year old grandson with narrow feet. This is a perfect fit
and he loves them! Thank you very much!
Hello Mona,
I am glad it worked out!
