Best Moccasin Shoes for Kids – Top 5 Most Durable, Supportive, and Affordable Styles!

I have put together a list of kids’ moccasins that are practical, comfortable, and fashionable. All of the moccasins that I recommend are made out of leather and provide substantial and supportive outsoles, which makes the comfortable and durable. Before we move any forward, if your child happens to have wide feet I suggest taking a look at a different article I wrote that is tailored for kids with wide feet.

Several parents ask me if there is a specific moccasin shoe brand I can recommend for their kids.

What is the Best Moccasin Shoe Brand?

There are different shoe brands that offer high-quality and supportive moccasin shoes for kids, but among those brands, I have found 3 specific ones that are better than others:

  • Merrell
  • Hush Puppies
  • Florsheim

What Makes the Moccasins I Recommend Ideal for Kids?

1️⃣ 100% Leather Made: The moccasins I recommend are all made from high-quality and genuine leather that stretches and molds to the shape of your child’s feet.

2️⃣ Substantial Outsole: The moccasins I recommend provide a substantial and supportive outsole that allows children to run around and play comfortably all day. Take a look at the image below for better visualization purposes:

Before we take a look at a list of the best Moccasin shoes for kids I want to make sure that you know your child’s exact foot size. You won’t be able to order the correct shoe size online if you don’t know what your child’s foot size is to begin with.

Are You Sure of Your Child’s Foot Length and Shape?

Unfortunately, most specialized children’s shoe stores have been closing down (even before the pandemic), and most families don’t know where to take their children to be properly fitted for shoes.

Parents across the country are increasingly ordering their children’s shoes online—unfortunately, without the benefit of proper shoe fittings—because most specialty children’s shoe stores nationally are closing their doors.

If you are unsure whether your child has narrow, medium, wide, or extra wide feet I created a free resource that will help you determine all this. This virtual shoe fitting service will help you retrieve your child’s shoe size from home.

Number One: Jungle Moc by Merrell

The moccasin below is more versatile than the other ones I recommend as it provides better support and it’s sturdier and more durable. Parents love this shoe because children can wear it for multiple activities either indoors or outdoors.

Number Two: Elephantito

This moccasin is not as durable or supportive as the Merrell Jungle Moc but it works well for a dressier occasion. The outsole of this moccasin is still supportive and it comes with a memory foam footbed so your child can walk around comfortably.

Number Three: Venetian by Florsheim

This is a dressier moccasin meant to be worn for dressier occasions as it won’t hold up if your child wears it as his/her everyday shoes.

Number Four: New Fast by Geox

This is a dressier moccasin meant to be worn for dressier occasions as it won’t hold up if your child wears it as his/her everyday shoes.

Number Five: Kilty by Minnetonka

This moccasin doesn’t provide a lot of support so I suggest wearing it for only a couple of hours and once in a while.

Some of the moccasin shoes I recommended are more supportive and durable than others, so if you are unsure which style will work best for your child’s feet do not hesitate to contact me.

Are Your Child’s Moccasins Slipping Off Their Feet?

If your child is having trouble wearing moccasin shoes because they always slip off their feet, I suggest trying a tongue pad before exchanging them for a smaller size.

When tongue pads are placed below the tongue of the shoes they push the child’s feet against the back of the shoes. This helps secure the feet and prevents them from moving up and down. You can learn more about tongue pads in a different article I wrote.

Let me know in the comment section below if you have found a specific moccasin shoe that has worked well for your child’s feet. I am sure other families will find your feedback helpful!
