Boys in Men’s Shoe Sizes – The Best Shoes for Your Child with Large Feet!

Do you have a boy who is already wearing men’s shoe sizes and you are having a very hard time finding shoes that fit? You will notice a big price increase between children’s and men’s shoes, but there is not much we can do about that. However, the shoes for boys in men’s shoe sizes that I recommend are supportive, lightweight, flexible, and breathable, but reasonably priced.

What Is the Last Kids’ Shoe Size?

The last boy’s shoe size is 7 and any shoe size above size 7 is considered a men’s shoe size, and you will notice a big price increase. I have fitted several young boys that were over a boy shoe size 7 in men’s shoes as even though we are a children’s shoe store, we still have a selection of men’s shoes for those children who have large feet.

I want you to know that the price of shoes is not a reflection of the quality of the shoes. What I mean is that while a higher-priced shoe tends to be made from higher-quality materials, you can definitely find a good pair of durable, supportive shoes at a reasonable price.

Does Your Child Prefer Shoes with Velcro Closure?

Just so you know, if your boy is over a shoe size 7 and still doesn’t know how to tie his shoes, it gets really difficult to find shoes with velcro closure. For that reason, I have put together a list of the best velcro shoes for kids with large feet.

If your child finds the selection of velcro closure shoes somewhat limited, I recommend that your child chooses a pair of shoes with shoelaces and then replace the shoelaces with a pair of lock laces (no-tie lacing system).

Lock laces are a smart, durable alternative to keeping your children’s shoes tight and they have become extremely popular not only among young children, but also teenagers and adults. They are also very easy to use, as the only thing that your child will have to do is to press a button and pull to make the lock laces tight and press the button again when they decide to take the shoes off.

Keep in mind that if your child is really active and into sports you should take the time to teach him how to tie his shoes, as shoelaces provide better support and stability than velcro closure or any other type of alternative closure.

I will provide you with a selection of the best shoes for boys who are in men’s shoe sizes shortly, but first I want to show you what features these shoes provide and how you can figure out your child’s exact foot size from home.

The 5 Most Important Features Your Kids’ Shoes Must Provide

We will be looking into men’s shoes for your child, but these shoes must provide certain features to keep your kids’ feet and legs healthy. Some of these features are:

1️⃣ Supportive: For your child to be able to wear these shoes all day, the shoes must provide good support to reduce the impact that your kids’ feet and legs take every time they come in contact with the ground.

2️⃣ Lightweight/Flexible: While we do want your kids’ shoes to be supportive, they must be lightweight and flexible at the same time. Shoes that are too stiff and heavy will make your kids’ feet and legs tired easily.

3️⃣ Breathable: Shoes need to be breathable to prevent the build-up of bacteria inside the shoe and also prevent foot odors.

4️⃣ Firm Heel Counters: The heel counter is the back part of the shoe that provides ankle support. The firmer it is the better, as it will cushion and support your kids’ ankles and prevent injuries.

5️⃣ Traction: Shoes must provide good traction to prevent your child from slipping and falling.

Are You 100% Sure of Your Child’s Foot Size? – Let’s Find Out!

You won’t be able to order the correct shoe size online if you don’t know your child’s foot size is to begin with.

I always recommend parents take their children to their local children’s shoe store that they trust, the issue is that most stores have been closing down and parents don’t know where to take their kids to be fitted for shoes. I created a resource that showcases the best-fitting children’s shoe stores by state.

How to Retrieve Your Child’s Exact Foot Length and Shape

If after looking at that resource you still can’t seem to identify a shoe store in your area, then proceed to take a look at an article I created that describes the simplest, yet most effective way to figure out your child’s foot size from home.

Now that you know how to figure out your child’s foot size from home and what features these shoes provide, you are ready to take a look at a selection of the best shoes for boys in men’s shoe sizes.

I have fitted all of these shoe styles before so I am familiar with the amount of support they provide, how well-made they are, and how they fit. Remember that shoes can fit short, long, narrow, or wide, and depending on how they fit you will need to adjust the size that you get for your child.

The most common mistake that I see parents make is to assume that because their children’s feet measure a certain size in the shoe measuring device, that size automatically translates into their actual shoe size. This usually tends to their kids’ wearing the wrong shoe size and leads to all sorts of foot issues such as blisters, calluses, and corns.

For example, if your child measures a foot size 7 in the measuring device, that doesn’t mean he will automatically need a shoe size 7 in all shoes. Normally we always want to go half a size longer (3/8 of an inch) to leave a certain amount of growing room. However, if that particular shoe style runs “short”, then your child will need a shoe size 8 —a whole size larger to provide growing room.

These shoes are all capable of accommodating an orthotic, so if your child needs extra support in his shoes you can easily remove the original insoles and insert an orthotic.

If your child doesn’t know how to tie his shoes but is ready to learn, you should definitely take the time to teach him, as shoes must be tied properly to provide good support and stability. I actually created an article where I explain the most effective way to teach a child how to tie his shoes. At the shoe store, I used to work for we have a shoe tying class where we teach children how to tie their shoes with this particular shoe tying method.

Now that you know which are the best shoes for boys in men’s shoe sizes, you are ready to make the most informed decision. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you ever have trouble finding a particular shoe other than sneakers for your boy with large feet.

Do you happen to have a girl who is wearing women’s shoe sizes? There is a different website that has a resource similar to this one that you might benefit from reading.

Do you happen to have a good-fitting children’s shoe store in your area that you trust? Parents are always contacting me asking where they can get their children’s shoes, so it will be very helpful if you can leave your location and the name of the children’s shoe store so other parents from the same area can benefit from your experiences.
