Are you having a hard time finding a pair of shoes for your teenage girl with large feet? Do you feel like she is in between kids’ and women’s shoe sizes?
The last kids’ size is a shoe size 7 and any shoe size above 7 is considered women’s or men’s shoe sizes.
I have been fitting children’s shoes and orthotics for the last 10 years, working at a specialized children’s shoe store that specializes in children with foot and leg problems, but we provide regular shoe fittings as well. It’s important for us to carry top quality shoes that are available in different widths, since that’s the only way that we can guarantee to fit every single child.
I have fitted several young girls that had a foot size larger than a size 7 in women’s shoes. Even though we are a children’s shoe store, we still carry a selection of women’s shoes for those girls who have large feet.
There first thing you will notice is how there is a big price increase between children’s and women’s shoes. However, the shoes I will describe in this article are supportive, lightweight, flexible, and breathable, but reasonably priced. Keep in mind that more expensive shoes don’t automatically translate into better shoes for your girl’s feet.
Just so you know, if your daughter wears a woman’s shoe size 8 ½ or smaller you can still get the kids’’ version of the shoe for a much lower price. This applies to you as well! If you wear a woman’s shoe size 8 ½ or smaller you will be able to get the kids’ version of the shoe and save a lot of money!
You might be wondering, how is this possible? A women’s shoe size 8 ½ or smaller translates to a girl shoe size 7 (which like I mentioned previously is the last children’s shoe size).
While I can’t get into too much detail about how this shoe size conversion works in this article, you should read another article I wrote where I explain this in more detail:
I will show you a selection of the best shoes for girls who are in women’s shoe sizes shortly, but let me first show you what features these shoe styles will provide and how to figure out your child’s exact foot size from home.
I also like to review only shoe styles that are available in different widths such as medium, wide, and extra wide to make sure that they will fit all children, no matter the shape of their feet.
I want you to remember this: It doesn’t matter how narrow or how wide your kids’ feet are, there is always at least one shoe style out there that will fit the shape of your child’s feet perfectly, and I will help you find it!
Shoes for Girls in Women’s Shoe Sizes – The 5 Most Important Features!
Since we will be looking into woman’s shoes for your child, these shoes must provide certain features in order to keep your kids’ feet and legs healthy. Some of these features are:
- Supportive: In order for your child to be able to wear these shoes all day, the shoes must provide enough support to reduce the impact that your kids’ feet take every time they come in contact with the ground.
- Lightweight and Flexible: While we do want your kids’ shoes to be supportive, they must be lightweight and flexible at the same time. Shoes that are too stiff and heavy will make your kids’ feet and legs tired.
- Breathable: It’s important for shoes to be breathable in order to prevent the build-up of bacteria inside the shoe and also prevent foot odors.
- Traction: Shoes must provide good traction to prevent your child from slipping and falling down.
- Firm heel counter: The heel counter is the back part of the shoe that provides ankle support. The firmer it is the better, since it will cushion and support your kids ankles and prevent injuries.
If we find a shoe that provides all of these features, your child will be good to go! However, I am always emphasizing to parents that it does’t matter how many features a particular shoe style provides, if the shoes are not fitted properly which involves getting the correct shoe length and the correct shoe width, your child won’t get any of the benefits that the shoes have to offer.
Which brings us to this following question: Do you know your daughter’s exact foot size?
Are You 100% Sure of Your Child’s Foot Size? – Get it Right!
I always recommend parents to take their children to their local children’s shoe store that they trust, the issue is that most stores have been closing down and parents need to end up buying their kids’ shoes online. There is nothing wrong with this, but you must know your child’s exact foot size in order to know what size to order.
I created a map that showcases the best fitting children’s shoe stores by state, so I suggest you start by taking a look at that map:
If after looking at that map you still can’t seem to identify a shoe store in your area, then proceed to taking a look at an article along with a video I created that describes the simplest, yet most effective way to figure out your child’s foot size from home:

The Best Shoes for Girls In Women’s Shoe Sizes ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Please keep in mind that I only write reviews of shoe styles that I have fitted before, otherwise I wouldn’t know how well-made they are, the amount of support that they provide, and how they fit.
Now that you know how to make sure your child is wearing the correct shoe size please find below a selection of the best shoes for girls who are already in women’s shoe sizes!
Please keep in mind that if your girl has wide or extra wide feet then I recommend any of the New Balance shoes (first two options from the left), since they tend to have a much rounder, and wider toe-box and they are available in wide and extra wide widths. If your daughter has narrow feet than I recommend the Asics shoe styles (last two options from the left), since they come with a more pointier, narrower toe-box and a narrower heel counter as well.
Remember that shoes can fit short, long, narrow, or wide.
The most common mistake I see parents make is to assume that just because their children’s feet measure a certain number in the shoe measuring device, that number automatically translates into their actual shoe size. This misconception usually leads to their kids wearing the wrong shoe size and their kids end up developing all sort of foot issues such as blisters, calluses, and corns (which are really hard to get rid of).
For example, if your girl’s feet measure a foot size 7 but the shoes fit “short”, then you will have to provide them with a whole size longer instead of a half a size longer (since the shoes run short), so your child will end up getting a shoe size 8 instead of a 7 ½. On the other hand, if the shoes fit “long”, then you will have to provide your children with the same size that they measured (since the shoes run long). If the shoes fit “true to size”, then you will just go a half a size longer of whatever size your children measured at the foot measuring scale.
