New Balance is not my go-to shoe brand for babies who are learning how to walk. I usually fit them in a pair of Stride Rite shoes, as they offer a larger selection of first walking shoes with key features that help children balance.

*A whole size bigger translates to 3/8 of an inch or 0.8 centimeters of space between your baby’s longest toe and the end of the shoes.
