New Balance Baby Shoes – Does New Balance Make Shoes for First Walkers?

Is New Balance one of your favorite shoe brands and you are wondering whether they manufacture good shoes for babies who are learning how to walk? Does your baby have extra wide feet and have you heard that New Balance shoes are ideal for children with extra wide feet? While New Balance doesn’t specialize in baby shoes, they recently came up with a new style that works really well for babies who are learning how to walk. I have put together a list of the best New Balance baby shoes based on my 10 years of shoe fitting experience.

If you are reading this article, the following is likely true:

  1. Your baby is cruising and attempting to take his or her first steps
  2. You know how important it is for new walkers to wear the correct types of shoes
  3. Your baby has wide or extra wide feet

Is New Balance the Best Shoe Brand for Babies Who Are Learning How to Walk?

New Balance is not my go-to shoe brand for babies who are learning how to walk. I usually fit them in a pair of Stride Rite shoes, as they offer a larger selection of first walking shoes with key features that help children balance.

With that said, if you prefer to provide your baby with a pair of New Balance shoes keep on reading as I will show them to you shortly.

New Balance Shoes for Babies – What Makes them Special?

The baby shoes that I recommend by New Balance are all thoughtfully designed for the infant-to-toddler transition and a child’s first steps. There are 5 reasons that make the New Balance shoes that I recommend ideal for babies who are learning how to walk:

1️⃣ Built-in flex grooves for natural movement

2️⃣ Velcro closure with oversized openings make it easy for taking the shoes on and off

3️⃣ Round toe boxes and extra depth to accommodate wide feet and high insteps

4️⃣ Available in wide and extra-wide widths

5️⃣ Received the Seal of Acceptance from the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA)

What Shoe Size You Should Order?

In each of the descriptions of the shoes I indicate whether you need to order a half a size or a whole size bigger than your baby’s foot size to provide the correct amount of growing room.

*A whole size bigger translates to 3/8 of an inch or 0.8 centimeters of space between your baby’s longest toe and the end of the shoes.

The best-fitting baby walking shoes promote healthy feet by allowing them to develop on their own and protect them from injury. Please remember that the shoes must fit your baby’s feet perfectly.

What Are the Best Socks for Babies?

Don’t forget to provide your baby with a pair of seamless and breathable socks as they will act as a barrier between your baby’s feet and the shoes, protecting your baby’s feet from developing blisters and other foot issues such as ingrown toenails.
