Can’t Find a Shoe Store in Your Area?
If you don’t find a children’s shoe store in your area, please let me know in the comments section below or contact me via email, and I can tell you which one is the closest to where you live.

How to Retrieve Your Child’s Foot Length and Shape from Home
I created a virtual shoe fitting service that will help you retrieve your child’s shoe size from home. In that article I help parents determine their child’s exact foot size and shape (narrow, medium, wide, extra wide, high instep) and whether the child is dealing with a foot condition such as flat feet.
The Advantages of Buying Shoes at Your Local Shoe Store
1️⃣ Specialization – We Know Exactly What We Are Doing
We are independent and able to order our own shoe brands, and we can choose the ones that offer shoes in different widths. For example, certain shoes come in different widths such as medium, wide, and extra wide. We choose to order these shoes because we know children’s feet come in different shapes, and we must have every single width to accommodate their feet.
The staff that is hired at independent stores is not made up of vague sales associates. We are trained in fitting shoes, brand knowledge, and high-end customer service. We know precisely who we work for and it really and truly forms a bond, a commitment to excellence and delivering the best results for customers and the store.
2️⃣ We Enjoy What We Do – Incentives Not Based on Commission
This is a key differentiation between the independent retailer versus chain retailers. At independent stores, the commission doesn’t necessarily motivate the staff. This sets the tone for the store’s staff and encourages/insists. The sell-sell-sell model is completely demoralizing, in my humble opinion, for both the employees and the customers. Rather, we are providing a basic function: outfitting your children with shoes.
3️⃣ Vision and Versatility – We Truly Care About Your Kids’ Feet!
You will find a different and unique vision for every independent retailer rather than a large overarching vision that has to fit the mold of hundreds to thousands of stores nationwide and in some cases, globally. Our store’s vision is simple: Provide outstanding customer service and fit your children’s feet with the most responsible and knowledgeable approach possible.
4️⃣ Personalized Attention – The Bond Is Real!
What’s so special about independent retailers is the personalized attention each customer is guaranteed. Customers come back and refer their friends and family to shop at a store like the one I work for based on the quality of our service, from fitting to brand knowledge even to fashion advice.
I have formed bonds with the customers, not only the parents but the children as well. These families are placing their complete trust in me with their children’s feet and I must use all my expertise so that children can move around in comfortable, well-fitted shoes.
Do you have a trusted children’s shoe store in your area that I haven’t mentioned? If you happen to have one, please let us know in the comments section below, so we can all benefit from your experiences.
Hi, do you know of a children’s shoe store that is close to Princeton, NJ? I need help finding the best shoes for my 9-year-old son who is somewhat flat footed and overpronates to the point that it is noticeable in his posture and he has foot pain . Thanks!
Hello Summer,
So far, the only two shoe stores that provide a specialized shoe fitting service in New Jersey are Ped-Agree Kids’ Shoes and Castle Bootery. I am not sure how close these shoe stores are to you.
If you don’t find any specialized children’s shoe store in your area I suggest that you take a look at this resource: How to Measure Kids’ Feet
Hello from the UK
I have left a comment elsewhere on the site but I’m so desperate so I’m leaving one here too..
My son has a very very wide foot, high insteps, walks on toes and flat footed, there is only one company in the UK that does a fitting near his width, but not properly fitting him and they only do them in school shoes. He has 3 options, they are all plain black, he has no casual shoes so spends his life in his school shoes. My question is, is there any companies in the US that make a very wide shoe that would ship to the UK, do you know?
Thanks so much in advance!
Hello Jessica,
I understand your frustration. I am happy to help you look for shoes that might be wide enough for your son’s feet, but first I need to know from which part of the UK you are contacting me and what shoe size your son wears.
Hello,
Looking for sandals for my son of 10 yrs old. He has the flat feet and already using Orthodics shoe fitting.
We require sandals for my son.
We live in Cypress, TEXAS 77429
Could you suggest if you have store nearby ?
Hello,
I don’t have a store near Texas.
If you tell me your son’s foot shape (narrow, medium, wide, extra wide), I can send you specific sandals recommendations that provide good support.
Hello,
I was having trouble measuring my children’s feet. I bought what I thought was the right size for my child in Sukihoshi brand. I heard that Sukihoshi was a good brand and I just went a half size up. Still, my child had ripped out the toe within three months. I found Little Feet in Denver and am going to see if they can give me better recommendations. The PT and pediatric orthopedist do not have any suggestions for me.
Additionally, my child would like to play soccer (football) in the fall, but he will still be wearing his orthotics. Any helpful hints as to which cleet might be helpful. Or, should we just wait until he no longer needs orthotics?
Hello Jan,
It’s hard to recommend specific shoes for your son without knowing his exact foot shape (narrow, medium, wide, extra wide), and which foot condition is he dealing with (flat feet, rolled ankles, low muscle tone, etc).
There are certain soccer cleats that work better with orthotics, but it depends on what specific orthotic your son will be wearing inside of the cleats. Again, I will need to know your son’s foot shape if you need specific shoe recommendations.
I clicked on Texas. I noticed you were missing a store: Foot Tech in Lubbock, Texas. They serve all ages by measuring for correct size as well as examining your gate to help identify your feet’s needs.
Hello Jessica,
Thank you for letting me know!
Hello i was trying to access a link regarding best kids shoes for arch support and ankle support. My 7 year old has severe over pronation and uses a hard sole orthotic made specifically for his feet. I usually buy him Asics brand for overpronation, but wondering what you recommend.
Hello Rima,
You need to look for shoes that provide substantial outsoles and firm heel counters. The shoes need to be deep enough to allow the orthotic to fit deeply inside of the shoes. Asics usually provide great support, but they tend to be a little narrow for orthotics. I suggest that you take a look at this article: The Best Kids Shoes for Orthotics – Supportive and Comfortable Shoes
Thank you so much for this. I came upon your site while researching how to tell if my child needs W shoes. I had NO idea you could still go to an independent shoe store (like when I was little in a small town with a great family-owned shoe store) and have a proper fitting! Bethesda and the one listed for VA are both a little far, but I see a promising one in Fredericksburg VA called Saxon Shoes. Hopefully a visit there will put an end to the absolute trial and tribulation that is buying shoes for my kids.
Hello Janelle,
Let us know how your experience goes at Saxon shoes and do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions after your visit.
Hi Juan I’m so very new to this and I have a daughter with this issues one foot bigger than the other other foot I need help lots of help because I been trying to find someone like you helping kids with this types of issues but we leave in Alice Tx 1 hour from Corpus Christi Tx please help me thank you
Hello Roșie,
I suggest that you email me at: fittingchildrensshoes@gmail.com
Please be more specific about the challenges that you are facing with your daughter’s feet and shoes.
Happy that I saw one location near me. California (Santa Monica). Unfortunatly the store is closed now. I need to find the right shoes since my son will be getting a brace soon.
Hello Daisy,
I suggest that you wait until you get your son’s braces to shop for the shoes. Once you have the braces you can use this resource: How to Get the Correct Shoe Size for Your Child’s AFOs – Follow These 2 Simple Steps!
Hello, looking for a particular girls western (cowboy) boot. My daughter (7 years old) wears AFO’s that are fairly thick and wide and go up to upper calf. She rides horses and wants cowgirl boots like the other kids that ride. To fit the orthotics she wears for years now New Balance 990 little kids size 3 extra wide. I see some of the cowboy boots you recommend for wide feet however do you know of any extra wide with a zipper as I don’t believe we can fit her foot in with the orthotic without a zipper. Size would likely be little kids 3 or possible big kid 3.5
Hello Andrew,
None of the cowboy boots that I recommend on my website will be wide enough to accommodate AFOs. However, you can check this website Gracious May as they manufacture custom boots for AFOs.
Hi there! It’s 2021…I hope you’re still able to help me. Any stores in Dallas/Ft. Worth area in Texas? Thanks so much!
Hello Yessenia,
In Texas I only know of two shoe stores, one in Austin and one in Midland.
If you don’t have a shoe store close by I suggest that you take a look at this resource: How to Measure Kids Shoe Size from Home – In Less Than 30 Seconds!
The shoe store in DC is spot on. 2 years ago I thought my daughter might need surgery because of family history and because her left foot slid out of all of her shoes at 13 months so she was having a really hard time walking. I was recommended by a friend to go to Ramer’s to see if it was the shoes rather than the genetic issue. Sure enough, she walked out of the store with perfect little walking shoes and has been walking confidently ever since in narrow shoes. Her big brother was measured while we were there too and we learned he was wearing a size too small shoe that was too wide! I felt so bad but he loved his new shoes and has worn asics ever since. It was pretty life-changing for my kids to have shoes that fit them well. Thank you for this information as they grow!
Hi Elise —
Thank you for sharing your experiences. I am sure that other parents in the area are going to find your information helpful.
I’m pretty sure my 7 year old son still has wide or extra wide feet plus a high instep, and it’s been so hard to find shoes that fit him comfortably. I found your website today while trying to search for shoes and boots for him online, and it is helpful! I have recently moved to northern Virginia, and you have one store listed there, but I wanted to double check with you because the website for the store says it is in Chantilly, VA but the address for the store listed on your map is, according to Google maps, a children’s clothing boutique in Alexandria. Is the Fit Right Children’s Shoes in Chantilly the one you recommend? Alexandria is closer to me, but I want to go to the right place that can accurately measure him.
Hello Jessica,
I just updated the map to display the correct address. The store I recommend is the Fit Right Children’s Shoe in Chantilly.
There is another store that might be a little further from where you are but they do an awesome job in fitting children’s shoes. The store is called Shoe Train and is located in Potomac, Maryland.
If after going to any of those stores you have any doubts, please feel free to send me pictures of your son’s feet and I will be able to tell whether your child has wide or extra wide feet. I will also be able to tell you whether your son has a high instep or not.
I hope this clarifies!
THANK YOU so much for taking the time to compile this map. I’ve been trying to find a place just like this to have my daughter fitted properly. Really appreciate it!
Hi CL,
No worries! It’s still a work in progress, and very time consuming as you can imagine! Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about your kids’ shoes.
Good morning,
We are in San Diego, CA and are looking for a place to take my son for proper fitting and supportive shoes. His right foot toes in and ankle rolls. I couldn’t tell if the map has a store in SD or a neighboring city. I was thinking of talking him to road runner, I’m not sure if they would be helpful.
Hi Michelle,
If you scroll down to CA you will notice how there are two shoe stores I recommend in that area, GoldenBug Children’s Shoes and Brooks Children’s Shoes. I am not sure how close they might be from where you live. You can take him to that store, but I am not sure if they specialize in children with in-toeing and rolled ankles.
Before you go to the store, take a look at an article that might answer some of the question you might have about your child’s feet: Shoes with Ankle Support
Any suggestions on a shoe store in South Carolina? Perhaps close to the Rock Hill or Columbia areas?
Hi Kay,
I have heard really good things about Tootsies Children’s Shoes, but I am not sure how close it is from where you live.
Footworks in Holyoke, MA
Hi Jennifer,
Thank you for letting me know. I am not able to find any information about them, do they have a website?
Hello, Im in SC, near the coast and looking for a kids shoe store. Both girls have shoe issues with either wide feet or wide feet and high instep.
Hello Elizabeth,
Have you tried the kids’ shoe store named “Tootsies”? I have heard great things about that shoe store.
Hi, thank you for the excellent quality of your content. I live in Salt Lake City, Utah and would like some guidance as to where to buy. Utah is a greyed-out state on your map. My 2-year-old son has the same turned in ankles as my husband, and I don’t want him to deal with the knee (3 surgeries) and hip pain my husband has. I understand that kids’ gaits may continue to change until about age 4, but his feet are an exact match of my husband’s, and I don’t want to wait. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks.
Hello Katherine,
Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to locate any good fitting children’s shoe store in Utah. I also don’t recommend waiting, especially since a lot of these conditions are hereditary and taking early action is key in order to prevent the condition from getting worse. If you can’t happen to locate a good fitting children’s shoe store in Salt Lake City, please send me an email at: fittingchildrensshoes@gmail.com
We can even do a Skype section so I can watch your child walk with and without the shoes. Please feel free to also send videos or pictures of your child’s feet and shoes to that email address.
You are taking the right steps by taking early action. Please keep in mind that your son’s ankles can be fully corrected with the correct type of shoes and orthotics.
Hi Juan,
I live in Washington, Seattle, and several parents have told me to take my kids to a shoe store called “Kid Friendly Footwear”. Do you agree with them? Do you feel like they do a good job fitting children’s shoes?
I have three kids and I need them all fitted for new shoes. Thank you.
Hello Stephen,
Yes, that is a good, if not the best fitting shoes store in your area.
This is such valuable information. We have had trouble sometimes finding shoes that are narrow enough for one of our daughters. We live in Arizona, and I don’t know of any good shoe stores here.
However, if anyone asks you about cowboy/cowgirl boots, I can recommend a store for that. It is called Saba’s Western Store. The address is 4935 E Carefree Hwy, Cave Creek, AZ 85331. Over the years, as our kids have grown, we have purchased many pairs of boots at Saba’s. Two of their stores (the two closest to us) have closed. So this last time, we went to the one in Cave Creek. As always, we received very good service. But this time, the worker there even exceeded my expectations. She was very knowledgeable about how to find the best fitting boots for our daughter’s narrow feet. The details she was talking about — I can’t even remember all of it. But I was very impressed!
So anyway, I know your website is about shoes. But here in Arizona, a lot of people do wear boots. And for our family, it’s not just fashion. It’s necessity. We have 1.7 acres, two horses, a burro, plus other animals.
Maybe this will be helpful to someone else in Arizona.
Hello Danette,
Thank you so much for sharing your own experience. This will be very valuable to other parents who live in Arizona.
Juan,
What an excellent idea. I live in Washington DC and there is a shoe store called Ramer’s shoes and they do a great job fitting children’s shoes. They are a small shop but they do a great job making sure childcare walk with the correct pair of shoes.
I feel like you are connecting the whole United States together!
Thank you again and be blessed.
Thank you! You are correct, Ramer’s shoes is a great kids’ fitting shoe store in Washington DC.There is also a shoe store closed by in Maryland called Shoe Train, and they do a great job fitting children for shoes and orthotics there.
Hello Juan,
Do you trust the shoe store in Oregon called” Little Feet Children SHoes”? I want to take my kids there and I noticed that they sell their own shoes online. It will be extremely practical for me to take them there to be fitted for shoes and then order from their webpage. Please advice.
Hello Joseph,
“Little Feet Children Shoes” does a great job fitting children’s shoes. I also noticed that they sell shoes from their webpage, and like you said, they probably keep track of the different children shoe sizes so you can order from their webpage.
It’s hard to find shoe stores anymore that will properly size feet to ensure that shoes will fit properly . I am from a small rural area in Western Canada and even when I go to the largest city center near me it is difficult to find a shoe store with employees that can give me good advice.
I would love it if you can expand your map and tell us which are the best fitting children’s shoe stores in Canada.
Thank you for including a link to your post How To Measure Kids Shoe Size From Home – In Less Than 30 Seconds! ….Brilliant !!
Hello Rick,
Thank you! I will try to expand the map and I will let you know as soon as I do.
Hi Juan,
Is Pediped considered a good fitting shoe store? I know its a chain store so I am confused on whether it’s appropriate to take my kids there to be properly fitted for shoes.
What’s the criteria you look for when selected shoe stores for your website? I live in Las Vegas,Nevada and I noticed that you recommend Pediped. Please advice.
Hello Darren,
Pediped is a great children’s shoe store and has been recognized by the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) as being beneficial for children, specially for those kids with growing feet. I definitely recommend that you have your kids’ shoes fitted there.
I really appreciate the information you have provided here in terms of fitting your child for the right size shoe – it is such an important task to accomplish and your guidelines in how to do so are much appreciated! Do you recommend GoldenBug or Brooks shoes in California? Is one better than the other one?
Hello Bex,
They are both great fitting shoe stores. I recommend that you go to whichever one is closer, since they both do a great job fitting children’s shoes.
Hello Juan.
I have five grand babies and I live in Texas. I noticed that you recommend two different shoe stores there, do you recommend one over the other? Should I have my grand babies fitted at Kidoshoe or Terry’s Kids’ Shoes?
I just want to make sure they are properly fitted for shoes.
Please let me know and thank you.
Hello Freddie,
Your grandchildren will be properly fitted for shoes at both of these shoe stores since they do a great job fitting children’s shoes. I recommend that you take them to whichever one is closer to you.
I love your site because my baby grandson is starting to walk on his toes, and I think he’s going to need some foot attention for sure. My daughter is going to talk to the pediatrician. Do you have some recommendations on this? I did scroll over New York, but you focused on the New York City metro area, and we live in the Albany NY area upstate, so I didn’t get a store recommendation from your map. Do you know in the Albany NY area where we should go, or should we just get that from the baby’s doctor. He’s 2.
Hello Babsie,
There is an article I wrote where I describe the best shoes for children who walk on their toes:
Shoes For Tip Toe Walking Children – Prevent Your Kids From Walking On Their Toes!
There was a good fitting children’s shoe store in Albany, NY, but the owners sold it and it’s under new management now. I haven’t been able to locate a good fitting children’s shoe store in that area yet.
Thanks to you my family found Kicks for Kids Shoes in Oklahoma. Now we finally have a place to have our childcare properly fitted for shoes, I always recommend parents to go the extra mile and take their kids to a shoe store t be properly fitted for shoes. Your website is awesome though!
Hello Alex,
I am glad you were able to locate a kids’ shoe store in your area!
This was a timely article for me and thanks for that! It is hard to find a shoe store that will spend the time to actually work with the kids and parents to get a good fitting shoe. Your provided map with locations is helpful. I have passed the website link on to my family located in Minnesota for their use as well.
Regarding your guide for buying shoes online that you linked to, this is another helpful post! I know that many in my family regularly order shoes online for the kids, it is so convenient and easier, especially when remotely located where there are no shoe stores close by.
Since so many of my family does buy online, getting shoes that will best work for the kids is important. None wants to harm the feet of the kids as they make their purchases.
No doubt there are many families like mine that can really use this too. When looking for the best kid’s stores to get properly fitted shoes, this is the place to look first! Kudos to you and what you do.
Hello Dave,
I am glad that you find the map informative and thank you for sharing it!
Thanks for helping me find Tradehome Shoes in Kansas. What an amazing kids shoe store guide. Outstanding!
Your map is really geared to helping people find the right shoes for kids. I feel like this map is bringing the United States children fitting shoe stores together. With so many online shoe retailers I feel like these shoe stores need more online exposure and its very nice that you are offering this to them.
Can you guide me to where I would find information about how specific brands compare to others? Keep up the brilliant work!
Hello Paul,

My son is growing up so fast and his shoe size is constantly changing. Your tool you created is simply amazing and I’m going to share with all my friends and family right now! However, I am happier to have found a shoe store in Nebraska. Belle and the Bear it’s great! They should thank you for sending people to their store.
Hello Brandon,
I am glad that you found the tool useful! Belle and the Bear it’s a great kids’ fitting shoe store in Nebraska.
Thank you for this very informative post. I read sometime ago that many back and posture problems start with the feet. If this is the case, then your site is providing an extraordinary service to kids and parents. By helping kids take a good step forward at an early age by way of proper fitting and supporting shoes, they may avoid possible related problems as they grow up and move into adulthood.
What do you think of Bob’s Little Feet in Louisiana?
Hello Norman,
Several parents told me that they do a great job fitting kids ‘shoes. Once they measure your kids’ feet, you will be able to order from their store online, if that’s more convenient to you.
Is Paul’s Shoes in Arkansas any good? I did some research myself and found some mixed reviews on the store. Do you recommend that I take my children to be properly fitted for shoes there? I just want to make sure that they are properly fitted for shoes. You have several articles that state the importance of properly fitted shoes for children.
Hello Edwin,
Yes, I do recommend this shoe store. They also sell children’s shoes online, so once you have your kids’ feet measured it will be easier to order from their webpage if that’s more convenient to you.
Hello Juan,
Thank you for this very informative article on the best places to find proper fittings for children’s shoes. It looks like there is a lot to learn about finding the right shoe for kids, and this website provides a great resource for that. It is hard to find the right shoe for a child without examining their foot condition first and any other conditions they may have.
I really like the interactive map provided to find the best local children’s shoe store for proper fitting. You have done an exceptional job of providing a great resource for parents, especially those in rural areas that don’t have access to a great shoe store specializing in children’s fitting.
You seem to have a lot of experience in this area and the training video is very helpful. I was wondering if you had any recommendations for the Houston area yet? I’ll keep a look out and ask around to see which is the best one down here. I will keep these resources in mind the next time I need to buy new kids shoes. Thank you!
Hello Daniel,
Thank you.
Kido shoes and Terry’s Kids Shoes are both wonderful fitting shoe stores in Texas.
Hello Juan,
I will be moving to Michigan soon. I don’t know if I am using the map correctly, but I can’t see what store you recommend in that state. I have three kids and I needed them to be fitted for shoes. Your website has been extremely helpful, and we have purchased several pairs from your site but it’s time to have them measured at a good fitting shoe store. Thank you.
Hello Kat,
Connie’s Children’s Shop is the kids’ shoe store that I recommend in Michigan. Based on what other parents have told me and some research I did on my won, they do a great job fitting children’s shoes.
I wish your website was around when I was a kid! I can’t tell you how many ill-fitting sneakers I wore growing up.
I was actually looking for toddler shoes when I came here. I know they grow up fast so I was thinking about getting him his first pair of little boy kicks he could grow in to eventually. You’ve made me rethink that. Well fitted shoes are so important.
Heck, it’s even a great education for your little one to see what we should be doing, getting proper fittings, so that we support the 2 good feet that give us so much support!
Do you know if Laurie’s shoes in Missouri does a good job fitting children’s shoes?
Hello Fyre,
Yes, they do an excellent job. I created several articles abbot toddler’s shoes, but I believe that the most relevant to you is this one:
The Best Shoe Brands for Toddlers – The 3 Most Durable and Affordable Brands!
I hope this helps!
Whats your opinion of the shoe store Fit To Be Tied in Iowa? I want to take my kids to be fitted for shoes there but I would like to know your opinion. It is more convenient for me to shop from your webpage than going to the shoe store itself, but I know that you always recommend us to take our children to be properly fitted for shoes at our local shoe stores.
Hello Daniel,
I recommend that you take your kids to be fitted for shoes at your local shoe store. If you can’t make it for some reason, I have written several articles that will guide you thought the process of getting shoes online for them.
Hello Juan,
I live in Minnesota and I noticed that you recommend a shoe store called “Little Feet Children Shoes”. I took my kids to this shoe store and they did a great job fitting them for shoes. I found them thanks to your map, I hope these shoe stores are thanking you for the traffic that you are bringing them.
Hello Andy,
I am glad that you were able to find a shoe store in your area! I believe that this map I created has been helping a lot of parents find a kids’ shoe store in their area.
I live in Colorado and I took little John to “Little Feet Colorado” to be fitted for shoes. I was able to find this shoe store thanks to your map. My wife has been telling me to take him to a good shoe store for months now and I am glad I finally found one. Thank you man!
Hello Lok,
I am glad that you were able to find a kids’ shoe store in your area thanks to the map!
I live in the Connecticut area and I was able to find Footbeats thanks to your resource (map). I have three kids and they all need to be properly fitted for shoes, since I find myself replacing their shoes every two months (the shoes keep falling apart). I know that the shoes should be lasting them longer than 2 months.
Hello Charles,
Your kids’ shoes should be lasting more than two months. You are either not fitting them correctly or purchasing low quality shoes. I hope you were happy with the service at Footbeats.
Hi Juan,
Is there a kids’ shoe store in Montana that you would recommend? I have three kids I need to take there to be properly fitted for shoes. Please let me know as soon as you come up with a good children’s shoe store in Montana.
Thank you for helping parents all over the US find a good fitting shoe store for their children.
Hello Hany,
There is a shoe store in Montana called “Lauries Shoes”, and they do a great job fitting children’s shoes.
Hello Juan,
A very helpful and informative website, I have a grand daughter that is 6 years old and is flat footed. Not sure if that will make any difference in the shoe and shoe fit? I am hoping we can get her fitted with a good pair of shoes. Probably a couple of pairs.
We live in Canada but are right beside Washington state and can do a quick drive down the I5 to get to Seattle.
I am going to pick up a Brannock as you suggest in your other post “How to measure kids shoes”, so we can do an accurate measurement on her feet and we can also use it for everyone in our family.
Thank you for the information.
Hello Jimmy,
To answer your first question, there are certain shoes that provide more arch support than others and your grand daughter will benefit from wearing them. Some children who are flat footed might require an orthotic to be fitted inside the shoes as well.
There is a children’s shoe store called ” Kid Friendly Footwear” in Seattle.
I hope the helps!
Thanks for this wonderful article Would be moving to the US (Minnesota) with my family soon, and I am sure I would be looking for a place to buy shoes for my children.
Do this stores have an online site where I could order before buying? I plan to take my children to the store but I would like to have that option as well.
Hello Rahye,
There is a shoe store in Minnesota called ” Little Feet Children’s Shoes” that do offer this service.
Hi Juan,
I live in Minnesota and I have two kids. I wasn’t aware that we had a shoe store called “Little Feet Children’s Shoes” that also sell shoes online. This is very convenient.
I am very impressed with the map you have put together to help people find that store for their children and love that you are teaching people how to measure for themselves if there is nowhere for them to get the help they need.
THANK YOU!
Hello Christene,
Little Feet Children’s Shoes do a great job measuring kids’ feet and they also sell shoes online. Some parents don’t have a local kids’ shoe store in their area and they must purchase their kids’ online, so it’s important for them to know what sizes to order.
It’s good to find an old style full service store, especially to make sure kids have got a good fit. I recall wearing bad fitting shoes that caused real discomfort, bruising and scrapes. I can imagine a quiet toddler having trouble walking or developing a deformity.
I was looking for a store in the Kansas City area and almost despaired that I would have to go to Topeka or near St. Louis. Clicking on the Topeka store and then searching within I located a store in Independence, MO that is part of their chain, so I am in luck.
Thanks for this service.
I am glad you found a store nearby where you live!
What about in San Antonio, Texas?
Hello Lisa,
Unfortunately I am not familiar with any good fitting children’s shoe store sin the area of San Antonio, Texas. Hopefully other parents from that area might let us know soon.
Hey Juan,
I noticed two shoe brands for New York, which one do you think it’s better? I don’t mind traveling further if it means a better service.
There are tonnes of brands out there for children’s to wear. Which one do you think is highly durable for children?
Thank you for creating this map.
Hello,
I would recommend “Tip Toe Shoes”. If you want to learn about the best shoe brands for children you can do so in an article I wrote called: The Best Shoe Brands for Kids – The 5 Most Durable and Affordable Brands
Can you please recommend me a shoe store in New Mexico? I have three kids and I need them to have fitted for shoes. I normally purchase their kids’ shoes online from your website but I would like to have their feet measured.
Please let me know as soon as you come up with a store in New Mexico.
Hello Bushra,
I will let you know as soon as I find a good fitting childcare’s shoe store in New Mexico
Do you know of a shoe store in the Buffalo, NY area that can fit a child with large bunions?
Hello Mary,
I am not sure how close this place is from your house but there is a store called “The Fitting Place” and they do a great job fitting shoes for children. Their address is:
982 Union Road
In the Southgate Plaza
West Seneca, NY 14224
I did notice some states do not have any stores listed and where I am from noticed that there are only two stores in California. Which of these two shoe stores do you recommend? My sister who lives in Washington DC and has three kids wants to know which shoe store you recommend in that area. Thank you.
Hello Jason,
If you notice a state that doesn’t have any children’s shoe stores listed is because I haven’t been able to locate a good fitting children’s shoe store in that area. I would recommend that your sister takes their children to be properly fitted for shoes to a shoe store called Shoe Train in Potomac, Maryland.
Do they do a good job fitting kids’ shoes at Sesame Step Children in Miami? I am looking for a good fitting shoe store for my kids since I always buy them shoes online, which is really hard to do.
As a mom of three kids, I buy many pairs every year and can attest that every brand has different sizes in reality even when the shoes have the same size tag.
The thing is that I mostly shop online as I don’t have time to go to real stores, so sometimes I order 2-3 sizes and return what I don’t need. Another option is buying on sale and hoping it will fit. In these cases I usually size up.
Do you have any table comparing sizes between the brands? For example, if you wear size 13 with Stride rite, order size 1 with Plae, something like this?
Mary
Hello Mary,
I don’t work for this shoe store but several parents have contacted me to display it on the map. Apparently they do a really good job fitting children’s shoes. You gave me a great idea about creating a table with the different shoe brands and how they fit. I will keep you updated and let you know as soon as I create it.
Should I take my kids to GoldenBug or Brooks Shoes in California? Do you recommend one over the other?
Thank you for creating this map, it will help a lot of parents who have to buy their children’s shoes online since they don’t know of any good shoe stores in their area. Please let me know as soon as possible since I need my kids’ fitted for shoes asap.
Hello Shirley,
I heard wonderful things about both of these shoe stores. They both do a great job fitting children’s shoes, and I would say that it’s a matter of whichever one is closer to you.
What is the best children’s shoe store in Virginia? I have three kids and I l would like for them to be fitted in the store. One of them complains of foot pain and I just think he needs to be fitted with good, supportive shoes.
Thank you for creating this map its very helpful.
Matthew.
Hello Matthew,
I recommend “Fit RIght Kids’ Shoes” in Virginia. They do an awesome job fitting children’s shoes and they have staff properly trained to do so.
They do a great job fitting children’s shoes at Kidoshoe in Texas.
Growing up as a kid I always had ‘wide feet’ and nothing fit me properly other than shoes from StrideRite. I also had this terrible habit of dragging my toes on the ground and destroying the front of my shoes. My 4 year old seems to have taken after me with his wide feet and I absolutely need to get him properly fit shoes to ensure his feet don’t end up as torn up as mine were (I always had blisters) as a kid!
Thanks so much for sharing this amazing map with such detailed information on where to find someone to properly fit him for shoes!
Hello Craig,
Thank you for sharing your own experiences. Having wide feet means finding specific shoes to fit the shape of your feet and it’s not an easy thing to do. There are several articles on my website that describe the best shoes for children with wide or extra wide feet, but it’s great that you have a kids’ shoe store in your area to take your child to be properly fitted for shoes.
Hi! I live in Georgia and the stores that popped up for me are Coggins Shoes for Kids and One Step at a Time KIDS. Could you provide some general information about these stores and why you’ve chosen them as the best kids’ shoe stores within my area. This will be really useful to me because I have a two-year old son and I want to get him a few new pairs of shoes.
Thanks in advance!
B
Hello Britney,
I chose those two shoe stores in your area since other parents that visited the store before told me about their experiences. I also do my own research and make sure that these are fitting stores that have staff properly trained to fit shoes. I hope this clarifies.
Thank you for creating such a helpful map! I always order my kids’ shoes online because there are no shoe stores close to where I live.
I live in Orlando, Florida. From the map, the closest one is in Miami. That is about five hours from me. Do you know if there is a closer one to Orlando?
Hello Roda,
I am not familiar with any good kids’ fitting shoe stores in the area of Orlando, but I will let you know as soon as I find one.
Hi , I am from India I am looking for shoes for my 3 year old boy, in one leg 6 fingers and on another leg 7 fingers . Please help me how to select shoes and how to buy. Regards Sumit Kumar
Hello Sumit,
I actually wrote an article that describes the best shoes for children with six toes:
Best Shoes for Kids with Six Toes – Extra Deep and Rounder Toe-Boxes
Simply click on the image of any of the shoes and it will redirect you to where to buy them. Those shoes are the deepest and with the roundest toe-boxes that I have fitted before. The shoes will hopefully prevent your son’s toes from rubbing against one another or the side of the shoes.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
There is a shoe store in Potomac called Shoe Train that does a great job fitting kids’ shoes and also orthotics. They have experienced shoe fitters who have worked there for years. I strongly recommend that shoe store.
This is a great idea you had Juan and many parents will benefit from this map.
Hello Eohia,
Thanks for sharing that! I used to work for that shoe store and you are correct, they do a great job fitting children not just for shoes, but orthotics as well.
This website is amazing! I’m from the UK and I haven’t seen a site that has a detailed map of local children shoe stores like this anywhere for us.
Don’t get me wrong, the UK has some great shoe stores for children which provide accurate shoe fittings for my kids but the way you have this map set up showing all the local stores is very unique and unlike anything I have seen before.
Have you ever thought about doing the same for other countries?
Hello Matthew,
I am not familiar with good fitting children’s shoe stores in other countries so it will be difficult, but this map has helped a ton of parents who live in the US find a good fitting shoe store for their kids.
It obviously shows that you are well experienced in helping kids find the right shoe that fits well in their area, please when are you coming up with the stores in Arizona? I hope you can do that when you finally find a store over here. The map is amazing and well worked upon.
Hello Clement,
I haven’t been able to find a good fitting children’s shoe store in Arizona yet, but I will keep you posted as soon as I do.
What an absolutely brilliant idea Juan.
I loved the way you took your expert knowledge and turned it into a resource that can help parents all over America.
As a child I had perthes in my left leg and had to have special shoes made for a caliper and I was always in and out of shoe shops trying to find the right shop.
This was almost 50 years ago and I could have done with this kind of resource then.
Very good idea and keep up the great work.
I am sure a lot of parents will be very grateful to you.
Tim
Hello Tim,
Thank you for sharing your experiences. Yes, the whole point is to raise awareness about the importance of fitting their kids’ shoes correctly.
Hi Juan,
I first want to say what an amazing site you have. I never realized just how hard it is to find shoes that fit for kids. With your research and map, finding shoes that fit for my kids will be easier than ever. Thank you for sharing this information that will surely help many parents get their child fitted correctly for shoes.
Please let me know as soon as you come up with a store in LA.
David
Hello David,
I will let you know as soon as I find a good fitting children’s shoe store in LA.
What excellent information on fitting childrens’ shoes. The most helpful part of this article was the interactive map you put together. I was able to find a great shoe store in GA that is willing to help fit my niece with her orthotics.
Are these stores contacting you to be shown in the map? Have you spoken to the owners? What is your criteria for selecting them?
Thank you Juan!
Hello Cathy,
I chose these shoe stores based on parents recommendations and also my own research. My criteria is that they must have been in business for a certain amount of years and that they must offer shoes that come in different widths such as medium, wide, and extra wide. The staff that works at the stores must also be experienced in fitting children’s shoes.
I find you haven’t researched well. There is more than one children’s shoe store in Pennsylvania that measure a child’s foot size and width. Hope everyone gave $10 to the guy making commission from the stores he advertises for. Even with gas prices at the highest I have seen them since my daughter went to college in 2012, I’ll drive the 100 miles and watch the sizing done for my T1D 5 yr old niece myself! Oh that’s right, I have a Stride Right closer, ina real town
Hello,
If you know of other specialized children’s shoe stores in Pennsylvania that do a good job measuring and fitting children for shoes I will be happy to add them to the map.
Kindly note that I do not make commissions from the stores that I advertise in the map.
I have created several free resources and articles that help families find the correct types of shoes for their children, and I recommend parents to have their children fitted at their local shoe stores, not just to have their feet properly sized, but to support local businesses as well.
Unable to find a store in the Pittsburgh, pa area
Hello Anna,
I have heard good things about a family shoe store named “Littles Shoes”. Have you tried that shoe store before?
Do you know of a good children’s shoe store in Washington DC or Maryland? I need to take my child to be fitted for shoes and orthotics.
Hello Claudia,
There is a shoe store called Shoe Train in Potomac, Maryland, and they fit children’s shoes and orthotics. They will even evaluate your child’s feet and watch them walk in order to recommend the best shoe style and orthotic.
Thank you, appreciate your response.
Hi, what about Kansas?
Hello Marquette,
I haven’t been able to locate a good fitting children’s shoe store in Kansas. Maybe someone from the area will see your comment and let us know.
That is a cool way to help someone search for stores in their area. Love the map! I live close to North Dakota , along the border of Canada, do you have any locations for that State?
Hello Madeleine,
If the state is greyed out it means that I have not been able to locate a good children’s shoe store in that area. I will let you know as soon as I find out whether there is a good children’s shoe store close to North Dakota.
Hey man,

Where in IL.
Hello Laurie,
Unfortunately, I have not been able to locate a good fitting children’s shoe store in Illinois yet. Please let me know if you have any questions about your children’s feet or if you are having trouble finding a particular shoe style for their feet.

Hello Sara,
The only store I am familiar n Denver is called “Little Feet”. They offer personalized service and this is their address: 201 University Blvd. Unit 103
Denver, CO, 80206.
Maybe another family knows of another shoe store in Denver.
If you don’t end up finding any specialized shoe store in your area you can use this resource I created: How to Measure Your Kids’ Foot – 2 Simple Steps to Determine Foot Length and Foot Width
I clicked on Arizona but nothing appeared. Do you know where some places are located in Arizona? Nice job on this helpful map…will help lots of people! Thank you!
Hello Deidre,
