I have been working for a specialized children’s shoe store for the last ten years. We specialize in children with foot and leg problems, but we provide regular shoe fittings as well. I handle approximately two hundred shoe fittings and try-ons per week, and I am familiar with which shoe brands and which shoe styles are better than others.
For the last three years I have been helping parents find the perfect pair of shoes for their kids’ ONLINE.
I get contacted by parents from all over the United States on a daily basis asking me if I know of a good children’s shoe store in their area. I am located in Bethesda, Maryland, and I am mostly familiar with children’s shoe stores in my area. However, after receiving feedback from many parents who live all over the United States, I decided to create a map of the United States that displays the best children’s shoe stores by state. These stores are not big retail chains, but rather locally owned shoe stores specializing in measuring and fitting children’s shoes.
Simply scroll over your state to see which high quality children’s shoe stores are available in your area and click on your state to be redirected to that particular shoe store’s webpage.
If you don’t find a children’s shoe store in your area, please let me know, and I can tell you which one is the closest to where you live.
Do you have a trusted children’s shoe store in your area that I haven’t mentioned? If you happen to have one, please let us know in the comments section below, so we can all benefit from your experiences.
If you live in an area without a store specializing in proper fit, please refer to my article explaining how to measure your kids’ feet from home. The article also includes a video that will help you visualize the process of measuring your child’s feet from home and you can find it here:
Now that you know how to figure out your child’s shoe size, you can use a tool I created that will help you find the perfect pair of shoes for your child. This tool will allow you to filter shoe options customized to your child’s unique footprint. The tool allows you to search by your child’s age, the type of shoe that you are looking for, your child’s shoe width, whether you want Velcro closure or shoelaces, and other important features such as whether the shoe is capable of accommodating an orthotic.
You can find the tool I created here:
I always recommend parents to take their children to be properly fitted for shoes at their local shoe store, where a shoe fitter can properly measure their feet and find shoes that FIT. The issue is that there might not be any good fitting children’s shoe store in your area, and you might have to purchase your kids’ shoes online.
Please don’t hesistate to contact me if you can’t seem to find a particular shoe style for your child’s feet.
