Remember the 1990s Velcro Fad? I had a pair and loved it because it don’t come undone. When those shoes fell apart, I couldn’t find new ones. Instead I could only find shoes with one strip on top. So, I’d use it to seatbelt the knot. It worked, but alas you couldn’t find those shoes anymore, so it was back to shoes coming undone all over again. How stupid. Some fashion designer decrees we revert to a “technology” from 10,000 years ago that plain doesn’t work. Nowadays, I buy a pair of shoes and tie them once with a shoe clerk knot (double knot) then slip them on and off. Now, shoe companies use round laces that still come undone even with a shoe clerk knot – until you add a drop of glue. Why are we going BACKWARD?!
Great point! Shoes that had a strip on top were able to hold the shoelaces in place and prevent them from becoming undone. Unfortunately, there are not many shoes with that feature left.

What an amazing invention! I can completely see the logic in these laces staying tied, especially since you have shown an image of the bubble feature. Our daughter is a little older now, but still at primary school and where we have the most trouble is during sports. We have to use double knots, which then become really hard to untie when you want to take the shoe off again afterwards. I am getting her a pair to try it out!
