Toddler Socks with Grippers – You Must Read this Before you Buy Them!

Kids Socks

Have you been looking for a pair of gripper socks for your toddler? Did you know that socks play a key role in keeping your toddler’s feet healthy?

There is a misconception when it comes to gripper socks, and it’s important for you to know this before your child starts developing foot issues.

Grippers socks are recommended for toddlers who are walking and running around the house barefoot, since they will prevent your child from slipping and falling down. Gripper socks are NOT meant to be worn with shoes, and I will explain you why shortly.

I have been working for a specialized children’s shoe store for the last ten years, where we focus on children with foot and leg problems, but we provide regular shoe fittings as well. I have gotten familiar with which are the best shoe styles and the best socks styles for children from actually having fitted them myself.

Did you know that grippers socks can actually cause several foot problems to your kids’ feet if they are worn with shoes?

Let me explain you why…

The grippers of the socks will stick to the bottom of your child’s shoe, preventing your child’s toes to move, which can create blisters on the toes. Babies and toddlers like to move their toes a lot, that is their way of exercising their feet. They won’t be able to do this if they are wearing a shoe with a sock that doesn’t allow their toes to freely move.

If your child is not wearing shoes, such as walking inside the house, then gripper socks will make your child feel more stable and confident when walking.

I will provide you with a selection of the best toddler socks with grippers, but please remember to never have your child wear them with the shoes.

The Best Toddler Socks – Two Important Features

I always tell parents that the socks that they provide for their kids must provide two important features:

  • The socks must be seamless: Seamless socks are the best type of socks you can get, especially for a child that feels every lump and bump and refuses to wear socks. Seamless socks are very soft and comfortable. If your child always complains when it’s time to put the socks on, you must provide him/her with seamless socks.
  • The socks must also be breathable: It’s important for socks to be breathable in order to prevent stinky feet and the formation of bacteria. Keep in mind that toddler’s feet tend to sweat a lot and a pair of breathable socks and shoes will help keep their feet dry and comfortable.

Before I provide you with a selection of the best gripper socks for toddlers (I will also provide you with a selection of toddler socks that don’t come with grippers), I want to make sure that you know how to provide your toddler with the correct sock size.

Getting the Correct Sock Size for your Toddler – Get it Right!

Providing your toddler with the correct sock size has the same importance as providing your toddler with the correct shoe size.

If your toddler socks are too long, they will end up bunching up and make his or her feet uncomfortable. On the other hand, if the socks are too short, they will end up cramping your toddler’s toes and prevent them from moving.

You must get your toddler’s socks just right! In order to get the correct sock size, you must know your toddler shoe size.

When trying to find the correct socks size for your child, please ignore the label the reads “sock size” or “age guidelines”.

In order to find your child’s correct sock size you must always look under the label “shoe size” in the socks tags. This is the most effective way to find your child’s correct sock size.
