Has your child been asking you for a pair of Twinkle Toes sneakers? Does she love how the shoes sparkle and light up? Do you even know what Twinkle Toes shoes are?
Twinkle toes are amongst the most popular light up sneakers among young girls. The shoes come with several FUN colorful designs and lights that your child can turn on and off with the press of a button.
These shoes are among children’s most favorites, but do they provide the everyday support and structure that your child needs in order to be able to play all day?
I have been working for a children’s shoe store for over 7 years now, and I know everything that relates to children’s feet and their shoes.
Before you decide to purchase your child a pair of Twinkle toes shoes, you must know how many hours your child should wear these shoes and whether your child’s feet are going to be able to FIT in the shoes. or not
One thing I can guarantee you is how you will never forget your child’s reaction’s when they get their first pair of Twinkle Toes. Talk about excitement! You will never forget the expression in your child’s face.
Personally, I like shoes that FIT properly and that provide everyday support. I always explain to parents the importance of providing their children with what I call “functional shoes”, because I believe each shoe should serve a purpose. Twinkle Toes shoes are great because your child can wear them to almost every single place that they decide to go such as the park, the shopping mall, going to dinner, dressing up… you name it!
The shoe company that makes Twinkle Toes shoes is called Skechers, and I am sure you have heard of this shoe company before. Twinkle Toes are great as long as your child wears them for a couple of hours a day (no more than 5 hours ). I always describe them as fun shoes that will put a smile in your kids’ face every single time they get to wear them.
It’s important to understand that Twinkle Toes are NOT meant to be worn as everyday shoes, since they lack the support and structure your child needs to run and play all day. As long as you don’t let your child run around in these shoes, they are a great option for them to wear them.
You must also make sure that the Twinkle Toes will FIT the shape of your kids’ feet. For example, if your child has narrow feet, she will have a very hard time fitting in these shoes. I will actually advise you that if your child has narrow feet to NOT provide her with a pair of Twinkle Toes shoes. But, if she really wants them, you can always use a tongue pad or an extra insole to make the shoe fit better. I will explain this in more detail below.
A child with a medium, wide, or even an extra wide foot will be able to FIT in these shoes.
One thing that most parents agree on is how the selection of Twinkle Toes shoes is BEATIFUL.
In this post, I will describe the most comfortable and the best Twinkle Toes shoe styles for children!
Will Twinkle Toes Fit The Shape Of Your Child’s Feet?
While children love Twinkle Toes shoes, their feet might not be the right shape to FIT in these type of shoes. There has been several disappointed children that are not able to fit in Twinkle Toes shoes due to having narrow feet,…
BUT… don’t worry because there is always a solution. For example, there are several shoe styles that children with narrow feet will have an extremely hard time fitting in, but if the kids really want to wear a particular shoe style, there is a way of making the shoes FEEL and FIT better.
Have you ever heard of tongue pads for shoes? They are adhesive-backed pads that fit below the tongue of the shoe and push the heel back, securing and preventing it from slipping. I actually wrote a post where I describe what tongue pads are in more detail and how they are fitted in the shoes (they are awesome for kids with narrow feet):
In summary, Twinkle Toes shoes will fit children with medium, wide, and extra wide feet. If your child has extra wide feet, you will have to try them on and make sure the shoes are wide enough. Pleas ekeep in mind that if that particular Twinkle Toe shoe style that you are looking for your child has memory foam inside, it WON’T fit your child with extra wide feet.
Are Twinkle Toes Shoes Suitable For Everyday Wear?
No, and let me emphasize the word NO. While we sell a ton of Twinkle Toes shoes at the children’s shoe store that I work for, these shoes are not meant to be worn for your child’s everyday activities. They are what I call “fun shoes”.
Fun shoes are meant to be worn to the shopping mall, going to dinner, or even going to the playground, but they are not meant to be worn for more than 5 hours a day.
Your child and yourself might be asking the question WHY?
Because they lack the support, structure, and flexibility a shoe must provide in order to keep your kids feet and legs heathy.
While Skechers has done a tremendous job improving the previous versions of Twinkle Toes shoes (the previous version used to be stiff, heavy, and provided no support), they are still not suitable to be worn as everyday shoes.
I always emphasize to parents that if they want to provide their kids with a pair of Twinkle Toes shoes that’s fine, as long as they provide them with a pair of everyday shoes to wear to school and their everyday activities.
While I don’t provide a description of the best everyday shoes for children in this post, I did write a post where I describe the best everyday shoes for kids and you can find it here:
What Are The Best Twinkle Toes Styles For Kids?
While there are hundreds of different Twinkle Toes shoe styles for children, not all of them provide the same quality, support, and structure. There are certain styles that are lighter weight, more flexible, and provide more support than others.
These are the styles that we sell at the shoe store that I work for, and I am familiar with how they FIT and with the type of support they provide.
While I always recommend parents to take their children to their local kids’ shoe store, several parents have contacted me asking where they can get their kids shoes online since they don’t have a children shoe store in their area that they trust.
Getting your kids shoes online is not an easy thing to do, since you might have to end up returning them several times until you found the correct pair and the correct shoe size.
Before you decide to get your kids shoes online, take a look at a post I wrote where I describe how to make sure your child is wearing the correct shoe size:
Now that you have a better idea about how kid shoes are supposed to fit, you are ready to make the most informative decision.
If your child has been asking you for a pair of Twinkle Toes sneakers for a while now, below you can find a selection of the BEST Twinkle Toes shoe styles for children!
All of these shoe styles fit “true to size”,which means that you need a half a size longer of the size that your child measures in the shoe measuring scale in order to allow for growing room.
So you have found the perfect pair of Twinkle Toes shoes for your child…
They love how they sparkle and light up…
They have become the hit of the class since every other child at school wants them…
DON’T forget to limit the wear to no more than 5 hours a day! Wearing shoes that don’t properly support our kids feet will create all sort of foot and leg problems. Also keep in mind that the material that Twinkle Toes shoes are made of is not the softest, so we want a quality pair of socks that will act as a barrier between her feet and the shoes.
It’s important for the socks to provide cushion and comfort to your kids’ feet, especially when they are not wearing the softest shoes. Also keep in mind that Twinkle Toes shoes are NOT the most breathable ones, so you must provide your child with a pair of breathable socks to prevent the shoes and her feet from getting sweaty and smelly.
Before you leave, take a look at a post I wrote about the importance of wearing socks for children!
By the way, shoes don’t have to be gender oriented anymore. Have fitted several boys that came asking for a pair of Twinkle Toes sneakers for themselves.
