Best Bearpaw Boots for Kids: Affordable, Warm, and Comfortable
Last updated: October 24, 2026 · By Juan Valenzuela, Certified Children’s Shoe Fitter
Want the cozy UGG look without the UGG price? Bearpaw boots have a soft suede upper, a warm sheepskin and wool-blend lining, and a sturdy rubber sole, usually at a much lower price. As a certified children’s shoe fitter with over 10 years of experience, I’ll show you the Bearpaw boots I recommend for kids, which ones handle wet weather, and how to get the right size.
Why Parents Love Bearpaw Boots
- Warm and cozy. A suede upper with a soft sheepskin and wool-blend lining keeps feet warm on cold days.
- Water and stain protection. Many Bearpaw boots are treated with NeverWet, which helps repel water, salt, mud, and spills. It’s water-resistant, not waterproof, unless the boot says otherwise.
- Good grip. The flexible rubber sole has better traction than many soft sheepskin boots.
- Affordable. Bearpaw usually costs much less than UGG, which matters when kids outgrow boots every season.
Are Bearpaw Boots as Good as UGG Boots?
For most kids, yes. Both use suede and sheepskin, and both keep feet warm and comfortable. The differences:
| Bearpaw | UGG | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Lower | Higher |
| Lining | Sheepskin and wool blend | Mostly genuine sheepskin |
| Outsole | More rugged, with better grip | Lighter, softer sole |
| Weight | A little heavier | Lighter |
| Best for | Everyday wear on a budget | Kids who wear them a lot and need them to last |
UGG uses higher-quality sheepskin that holds up longer, but kids usually outgrow boots before that matters. Bearpaw’s sturdier sole is a real plus for active kids. Here’s how UGG boots compare for kids’ feet, and my picks for other kids’ boots similar to Uggs.
How to Get the Right Size
- Order a whole size larger than your child’s current foot size. That gives room for thicker socks and growth.
- Don’t go bigger than that. The lining packs down a little with wear, so a boot that’s already loose will get looser.
- Check the heel. If your child’s heel slips out when they walk, the boot is too big.
- Using an insert? Put it in before checking the fit, since it takes up room.
Not sure of your child’s size or width? Here’s how to measure your child’s feet.

Are Bearpaw Boots Supportive Enough?
Like all sheepskin boots, Bearpaw boots are soft and don’t give much arch or ankle support. Most kids with healthy feet can wear them comfortably. If your child has flat feet or weak ankles, I suggest limiting wear to about 4 hours a day.
For extra support, I recommend sport insoles with a built-in arch and a deep heel cup. They fit inside Bearpaw boots and help hold the heel and arch steady. They won’t make a Bearpaw as supportive as a sneaker, so for long days on their feet, a supportive snow boot is still the better choice.
Need Help Choosing?
If you’re not sure which Bearpaw boot or size to choose, email me with your child’s age, current size, and whether their feet are wide, and I’ll point you to the best option. If one of these boots worked for your child, please share it in the comments so other parents can benefit.
