Cheap Snow Boots for Kids – How to Save Money Without Compromising Foot Health!

Have you been looking for a pair of affordable, yet high quality snow boots for your child? Do you want the snow boots to be reasonably priced and still provide important features such as being insulated, waterproof, and durable? Parents are always asking me where they can find cheap snow boots for kids that will keep their feet warm and dry at the same time.

I review children’s shoes and rate them based on my experience of having fitted children’s shoes for the last 10 years. I have been working for a specialized children’s shoe store that focuses in helping children with foot and leg problems, but we provide regular shoe fittings as well.

I have fitted hundreds of different shoe styles and several different shoe brands, and that helped me become more familiar with which shoes are more affordable than others and still provide good quality.

The price of kids’ snow boots can range anywhere from 20 to 75 dollars. The amount that each family is willing to pay is determined by several different factors, but there are two important things you need to consider before you decide how much to invest in your kids’ snow boots:

  • How cold it gets in the area where your child lives.
  • How much use your child will get from the snow boots.

I am sure that you can agree with me that there is no point in saving money on a snow boot that is not going to be waterproof, insulated, and comfortable for your child’s feet. There are snow boots that you can buy at places such as Target or Walmart for 20 dollars or less, but is it worth paying 20 dollars for a snow boot if it’s not going to keep your child’s feet dry and warm?

I am here to show you the most affordable kids’ snow boots that won’t compromise your child’s foot health.

Several families have provided feedback on how their kids’ feet got soaking wet and cold after playing in the snow boots that they bought from Walmart and Target. Other families have reported how the insoles of the snow boots were made of cardboard and hurt their kids’ feet.

Cheap Snow Boots from Walmart/Target – Reviews from Parents!

Below are some examples of what these families had to say:

Why are Walmart Snow Boots so Much Cheaper?  – Be Aware!

These are the 3 most common reasons why certain shoe companies can sell children’s snow boots at much lower prices:

✅ Waterproof VS Water Resistant:

It’s important to understand the difference between waterproof boots versus boots that are water-resistant. Waterproof boots don’t allow any water to penetrate inside the boots, while boots that are water-resistant keep water out as long as your child doesn’t step into a puddle. If you notice that a particular snow boot style is a lot cheaper than others, then it’s highly likely that the boot is water-resistant instead of waterproof.

✅ Poorly Made Insoles:

Certain shoe companies save money on the shoes that they manufacture by saving money on the parts of the shoes that you cannot see before buying them. I have seen cases of several snow boots from Walmart and Target that had insoles made out of cardboard.

✅ Heavier and Bulkier Boots:

Cheaper boots tend to be extremely heavy and bulky. This can lead to your child’s feet and legs easily getting tired. Please keep in mind that snow boots that are hard to flex at the front can lead to your child developing foot and leg pain.

I am here to help you save on your kids’ snow boots without compromising on the quality of the boots. There is a particular snow boot style that I have fitted before which is affordable, fully waterproof and insulated at the same time.

This snow boot is one of parents’ favorites as it is affordable but provides important features at the same time. How to Order the Correct Snow Boot Size? – Get it Right!

It’s important that you order the correct boot size in order for your child to be able to wear the boots for the whole winter season. As a rule of thumb, I always recommend parents to provide their children with 0.3 inches or 0.7 centimeters of space between the child’s longest toe and the end of the boots, which usually translates to half a size to a whole size in terms of shoe size.

When it comes to snow boots I recommend parents providing their children with a whole size longer than their child’s foot size. For example:

  • If your child measures a foot size 8, I recommend providing your child with a snow boot size 9.
  • If your child measures a foot size 8 ½, I recommend providing your child with a snow boot size 10.

Makes sense?

Please make sure that you order the correct snow boot size for your child. If you fit your kids’ snow boots too long, you will end up compromising your child’s stability and making your child more prone to tripping and falling. On the other hand, if your child’s snow boots are too short, your child’s toes might rub against the side of the boots.
