Editor’s Note: This post has been updated and revised for accuracy on February 2022 and reflects an up-to-date selection of the best shoe brands for kids with narrow feet.
Are you having a hard time finding a pair of shoes for your child with narrow feet? Do you feel like you try a whole bunch of different shoes but you always end up empty handed?
Finding a pair of narrow shoes for children can be a frustrating and time-consuming experience if you don’t know what shoe brands and what shoe styles among those brands fit narrower than others.
There is only a small selection of kids’ shoes that are capable of fitting the shape of a child with narrow feet, but the good news is that I will help you find them. Certain shoe brands are more consistent when it comes to manufacturing shoes for children with narrow feet, and I will describe them shortly.
My Experience Fitting Children’s Shoes
I have been fitting children’s shoes and orthotics for the last 10 years at a children’s shoe store that specializes in children with “complicated” foot shapes as well as foot and leg problems, but we provide regular shoe fittings as well. Through the years I have gotten familiar with which shoe brands fit narrower than others.
If you provide your children with narrow feet with a pair of shoes that are too wide, you might end up creating several foot issues to their feet which can range from blisters, calluses, and corns, to general foot and leg pain.
I have helped hundreds of children with narrow feet find the correct pair of shoes, and I know exactly which shoes work better for them from having fitted them before. There are certain shoes that in the same length and width will fit a lot narrower than others.
Let me prove this to you!
Let me show you the difference between a shoe with a narrow toe-box and a narrow heel counter, versus a shoe style in the same length and width size with a wider toe-box and a rounder heel counter.
Do you notice how the shoe on the right has a narrow toe-box as well as a narrow heel?
These shoes are the same length and width, but as you can see they will fit very differently!

How to Check If Your Kids Have Narrow Feet or Not? – 2 Simple Steps!
If you are not 100% sure on whether your child has narrow feet or not, there is a simple way you can follow and check from home.
Step 1: With your child’s shoes on check if there is too much extra space around your child’s heels. There should be a certain amount of space in which you can comfortably slide your finger around your kids’ heels. However, if you can slide more than one finger around your kids’ heels, then it means that the shoes are too wide.
Step 2: Pinch the front part of your kids’ shoes and check if there is too much extra shoe material. Take a look at the image below for clarification:
There shouldn’t be all that extra shoe material in the front of your kids’ shoes, and this is another sign that your child might have narrow feet.
Have you noticed blisters on the back of your child’s heels? When children have narrow feet, their shoes tend to move too much around the heel area, and that constant movement and friction usually leads to the formation of blisters. If you provide your child shoes that are too wide, you might end up creating all sorts of issues to their feet such as blisters, calluses, and corns.
There is a myriad of children’s shoe brands out there to choose from, and it’s a fact that some of them manufacture shoes that fit narrower than others. The 2 shoe brands that I describe in this article have proven to be the most effective ones when it comes to fit the shape of a child with narrow feet.
