Are you having a hard time finding a pair of narrow sandals for your girl? Do you feel like you spend a lot of time trying different styles but always end up empty handed?
I have been fitting children’s shoes and orthotics for the last 10 years at a premier children’s shoe store where we specialize in children with foot and leg problems, but we provide regular shoe fittings as well. It’s important for us to carry top quality shoes that are available in different widths, since that’s the only way we can guarantee to fit every single child.
During the last 3 years I have been helping parents find the correct type of shoes for their children online, since a lot of children’s shoe stores have been closing down.
Every time parents can’t seem to find a particular shoe style for their kids I always remind them one thing: It doesn’t matter how narrow or how wide your kids’ feet are, there is at least one particular shoe style out there that will fit the shape of your kids’ feet perfectly and I will help you find it.
Finding a pair of summer sandals that will fit a girl with narrow feet can be quite time-consuming, since there are only a few sandal styles that will fit the shape of your kids’ narrow feet. The good news is that I know which styles will work better for children with narrow feet, and I will show them to you in this article.
Fitting your child in a pair of sandals that are too wide will lead to several foot issues to your kids’ feet such as blisters, calluses, and corns. For example, if the sandals are too wide then your kids’ feet will end up moving too much inside the sandal and that constant friction and rubbing against the shoe will lead to the foot issues mentioned above.
Providing your child with a sandal that is too wide can also lead to foot and leg pain, since his/her feet will not be getting the proper support from the sandals
I know that finding the correct type of sandals for your child with narrow feet can be a frustrating and time-consuming, but since I have fitted narrow sandals for girls before, I am familiar with which particular styles will fit narrower than others, and I will share a selection of the best narrow sandals for girls by the end of this article.
How Can You Tell If Your Girl Has Narrow Feet? – Let’s Find Out!
I can tell if a child has narrow feet just by looking at the feet, since I have been fitting children’s shoes for such a long time.
There is a standard foot measuring device (called the Brannock device) that is the most popular device to find out children and adult foot sizes, and is the one that most shoe stores use to measure children’s feet. This device will tell you whether your child has narrow, medium, wide, or extra wide feet.
If you don’t have a local kids’ shoe store to have your child’s feet properly measured, I describe the most effective way to measure your kids foot size from home and where to get the Brannock device for the best price:
If your child is already wearing a pair of shoes and you suspect that the shoes are too wide, there are certain ways you can be 100% sure.
For example, with your girl’s shoes on take a look if there is too much extra space around her heels (check if you can stick your finger around the heel area of the shoe). If you can fit one or more fingers then the shoes are too wide for your girl’s feet. Take a look at a picture of a child wearing a pair of shoes that are too wide:
Also check if there are a lot of creases in front of the shoe or extra shoe material. Do you notice all that extra material in the front of the shoes?
Which Shoe Brands Make Sandals for Girls with Narrow Feet?
There are certain shoe brands that you should start getting familiar with which are Naturino, Primigi (certain styles), and Keen (certain styles).
I have fitted summer sandals from these shoe brands before and Naturino is pretty consistent and most of their shoe styles will fit a girl with narrow feet. When it comes to Primigi and Keen there are certain styles that fit much narrower than others.
You should always keep these shoe brands in mind when shopping for your girls’ summer sandals. However, to make it easy for you I will describe the best sandals styles from these particular shoe brands.
The sandals I will describe below will provide the following features:
- Support: This will minimize the impact that your feet take every time they meet the ground.
- Lightweight and Flexible: This will prevent your child’s feet from easily getting tired.
- Traction: This feature will prevent your child from slipping and falling down.
- Durable: Your child will outgrow these sandals before they are ready to be replaced.
You should know that it doesn’t matter how many features a particular shoe style has to provide, if the shoes are not fitted properly (the correct size), your child won’t get any of the benefits that the shoes have to offer. What’s even worse, you will end up creating all sort of different foot issues to your child’s feet.
If you have read any of my previous posts you should know by now that I always recommend parents to take their children to their local kids’ shoe store, in order to find the correct pair of shoes for their kids. However, I have been contacted by several parents who say how their local children’s shoe store has closed down and they must get their kids’ shoes online.
If you are in that situation, please START by reading a post I wrote where I describe the most effective way to figure out your child’s foot size from home:
Now that you know what features the sandals must provide and how to figure out your child’s foot size from home, let’s take a look at a selection of the best narrow sandals for girls.
The Best Narrow Sandals for Girls – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Finding a pair of narrow sandals for girls can be very time-consuming, and you might end up empty-handed if you don’t know what sandal styles or shoe brands fit narrower than others.
The sandals that I will describe below are all every day sandals that your girl can wear for most of the day, since they will provide good support and traction for her feet. However, I always recommend alternating with her sneakers, since sneakers always provide more support than sandals.
Here you can find a selection of the best narrow sandals for girls:
These sandals are all waterproof and if you fit them with correct amount of growing room your girl will be able to wear them for the whole summer season.
All of these sandals fit “true to size” which means you will only have to go a half a size longer of the size that your child measures in the standard foot measuring scale (Brannock device) in order to allow for growing room.
Please keep in mind that most sandals are not available in half sizes, and they come in whole sizes only. This means that if your girl’s foot size measures a size 8, you will need to provide her with a size 9 instead of a size 81/2 (since sandals are not available in half sizes).
Prevent Your Girls Sandals From Developing A Smell!
I have been contacted by several parents who have been complaining about their girls’ summer sandals smelling really bad. If your girl will wear her summer sandals for most of the day then don’t be surprised if the sandals start developing a smell.
Please be aware that there are no products in the market right now that will help with getting rid of the smell, so DO NOT waste any money in products thinking that they will help.
However, there is a home-based product secret that involves using baking soda and vinegar which will definitely help get rid of the smell! Just make sure you rub it throughout the sandal, especially in the neoprene part. Several parents have told me how they have tried this method and worked perfectly.
