Narrow Sandals for Girls – The Best Summer Sandals for Girls with Narrow Feet!
Narrow sandals for girls are hard to come by. Some families spend a lot of time trying different styles but always end up empty-handed. I am a shoe fitter with over a decade of experience fitting children’s shoes and I have created several resources for children with narrow feet, from sneakers to dress shoes. The best sandals for girls with narrow feet should provide narrow heel counters and platforms, and multiple points of adjustability to help keep the foot in place. I will show you a list of these sandals shortly.
What Makes the Sandals I Recommend Effective for Narrow Feet?
➡️ Narrow Heel Counters and Platforms
The heel counter is the back part of the sandals, and the narrower it is, the better it fits the shape of your child’s narrow feet. Shoes with narrow heel counters help prevent heel slippage. Below you can see the difference between two sandals that are the same size in length. Do you notice how the sandal on the right has a narrow heel counter compared to the sandal on the left?
The sandal on the right also has a narrower toe-box, which is going to help prevent your child’s feet from moving excessively inside the sandals.
Which Shoe Brands Make Sandals for Girls with Narrow Feet?
There are certain shoe brands that you should start getting familiar with which are Naturino, Primigi (certain styles), Garvalin, and Keen (certain styles).
I have fitted summer sandals from these shoe brands before and Naturino is pretty consistent and most of their shoe styles will fit a girl with narrow feet. When it comes to Primigi and Keen certain styles fit much narrower than others. You should always keep these shoe brands in mind when shopping for your girls’ summer sandals. However, to make it easy for you I will describe the best sandals styles from these particular shoe brands.
The sandals that I recommend below are all everyday sandals that your daughter can wear for most of the day, as they provide excellent traction and support. However, I always recommend alternating with sneakers, as sneakers provide better support than sandals. - If your child measures a foot size 5, you will order the size 6 and your child will still get the correct amount of growing room.
- If your child measures a foot size 5 ½, you will order the size 6 and your child will get the correct amount of growing room.

Are Your Kids’ Sandals Too Wide? – Let’s Find Out!
If your child is already wearing a pair of sandals and you suspect that they are too wide, there are certain ways you can check to be 100% sure.
1️⃣ Put your girl’s sandals on and take a look if there is too much extra space around her heels —check if you can fit more than one finger around the heel area of the sandal— If you can fit one or more fingers then the sandals are too wide for your girl’s feet. Take a look at a picture of a child wearing a pair of sandals that are too wide:
2️⃣ Check if there are a lot of creases in front of the shoe or extra shoe material. Do you notice how the navy blue sandal seems to have a lot of extra material in the front compared to the pink one?
How to Retrieve Your Child’s Exact Foot Length and Shape
I created a resource that describes the simplest, yet most effective way to figure out your child’s foot size from home. Finding a pair of narrow sandals for girls can be very time-consuming, and you might end up empty-handed if you don’t know what sandal styles or shoe brands fit narrower than others.
Prevent Your Girls’ Sandals from Developing a Smell!
I have been contacted by several parents who have been complaining about their girls’ summer sandals smelling really bad. If your girl wears her summer sandals for most of the day then don’t be surprised if the sandals start developing a smell.
Please be aware that there are no products in the market right now that will help with getting rid of the smell, so don’t waste any money on products thinking that they might help. However, there is a home-based product secret that involves using baking soda and vinegar which will definitely help get rid of the smell! Just make sure you rub it throughout the sandal, especially in the neoprene part. Several parents have told me how they have tried this method and worked perfectly.
What Are the Best Narrow Sneakers for Girls?
If your child has narrow feet, finding a pair of everyday or seasonal shoes for your child can also be very time-consuming. However, I have good news for you. If you have been looking for a pair of everyday sneakers I got you covered in a different article I created.
Hi,
I’m looking for sandals that my 4 year old daughter can wear at the pool or beach. She has very narrow feet and wears a size 10. What sandals would you recommend?
Hi Jen,
Below you can find my recommendations:

Is it possible for a child’s foot just to be narrow in the heel? The nearest children’s shoe store is 3 hours away from me so I have to order online. My daughter is 4.5 and we have struggled the last 3 summers especially with finding sandals that fit her. I end up settling for something but they never fit great and I notice that she trips a lot unless she has sneakers on. I have used the stride rite online width measurement which measures the widest part of her foot and that says it’s a medium but she always has tons of room in the heel of shoes. I currently measured her with her toes right on the line for little kid/toddler 9 which means I should order her a 10? Her feet also turn in a little bit they have gotten better as she has gotten older but it seems like any extra length contributes to her tripping more.
Hi Amanda –
Yes, it’s possible for a child’s foot just to be narrow in the heel. If your daughter is having stability issues I recommend that you don’t provide her with extra growing room. There are certain sandals that are narrower on the heels and there also certain sandals that come with Velcro straps around the heels to prevent the foot from moving too much.
Are you looking for a water play or dressier sandal?

Hi there. Thank you for the helpful information. I am looking for a vegan dress flat for my daughter that has VERY narrow flat feet. She wears a size 4.
Thank you, again!
Hi Alissa,
Are you referring to a toddler size 4 or a big kid size 4?
I don’t recommend that children wear flats when they have flat feet, since those type of shoes don’t provide any support whatsoever. Would you be willing to try a pair of dressier Mary Janes instead?
Hi, My daughter’s shoe size is US 4 (Youth). She has very narrow feet. We are having a real hard time finding dress sandals and shoes that she can wear with dresses. Any recommendations? Any recommendations on summer sandals please?
Hello Nikki,
There is a particular shoe brand called Naturino that manufactures some of the best dress sandals for children with narrow feet. Please find my recommendations below:
Dress Sandal for Girl with Narrow Feet: Option 1
Dress Sandal for Girl with Narrow Feet: Option 2
Your daughter’s shoe size 4 translates to a 35 European shoe size. Please clarify that you are referring to an older girl shoe size 4 and not a toddler girl shoe size 4.
I hope this helps!
My daughter is 10 with very narrow feet. She has already broken both feet on separate occasions so needs a good fitting shoe that is cute and hip for a tween. We’ve had luck with sneakers but not with sandals or flats. Can you help with brands? Even a trip to Nordstrom ends up empty handed. Poor girl is wearing sneakers with dresses.
Hello April,
I am sorry to hear that! It’s really hard to find shoes for children with narrow feet. There is another article I wrote that I believe will be more helpful considering that you are looking for a dress sandal. Go to the link below:

Hello! My daughter has narrow feet and I constantly struggle finding shoes for her, sneakers, water shoes, sandals, Mary janes, boots, everything. Her foot is 7 inches long and 6 inches around her toe box area. Her feet are pretty flat too, adding to the narrow issue. We do not have great shoe stores near here. Any recommendations? Thanks!
Hello Kristina,
Where are you located? I just created an article that describes the best children’s shoe store by state. You can take a look at that article here:

Hi,
I’m based in the UK and really struggle to find sandals for both my daughters who have narrow feet. My eldest is a UK C width fitting and my youngest is a D width fitting. My eldest daughter also has hypermobility in her ankles so a well-fitted shoe/sandal is always a must-have! We’re off on holiday very soon and they both need a waterproof sandal. Any last minute suggestions that I’d be able to buy in UK before we leave?
Hello Louise,
At the children’s shoe store that I work for we tend to fit our children with foot issues such as flat feet, rolled ankles, or overpronation in Keen sandals. Have you heard of Keen sandals before? They are the ones that come with a substantial sole that provides arch support. You can see a selection of the most supportive Keen sandals in an article I wrote called:
Keen Sandals For Girls – The Most Supportive And Durable Summer Sandal For Your Girl!
I hope this helps! If you were thinking of getting your daughter’s an orthopedic pair of sandals please let me know and I will send you a selection of the best styles. However, I strongly recommend Keen sandals since they provide a lot of support and they are more affordable.
If those sandals are still too wide for your daughter’s feet please let me know and we will look for a different style.
I’m really grateful for your information. Our whole family has narrow feet and I have struggled to find shoes for my kids for years. Thank you!
I am glad that you found the article informative!
I am currently in the search for a sandal my daughter can wear that is little dresser, something to where is summer dresses, and other good clothes for special occasions. Every sandal we have tried on in the stores have been too wide, and now I must search for something online. This makes me nervous knowing we have had such bad luck trying them on in the store. Do you have any suggestions for us?

My 13yr old wears a size 1.5 or 2 depending on the style shoe/brand. Do you have any recommendations for dressy flats/slight wedge shoes for her? I hate putting my 8th grader in shoes that look like they’re for preschoolers.
Jennie,
Since you mention flats I am assuming you are talking about dress shoes and not sandals. I also would like to know your child’s foot shape, does she has narrow or wide feet? If you get back at me with that information I can provide you with better advice.
Why is this info for girls only?! Seems ridiculous to write an article for one gender when the info could be applied for any gender.
Hello Julie,
I created a different article that describes the best narrow sandals for boys: Narrow Sandals for Boys – The Best Styles for Your Boy with Narrow Feet!
