Wide Indoor Soccer Shoes For Kids – They DO Exist!

Wide Indoor Soccer Shoes

Have you been looking for a pair of wide indoor soccer shoes for your child? Have you tried several different pairs but you always end up empty handed?

Finding a wide pair of indoor soccer shoes can be a frustrating and time-consuming experience.

Wide and extra wide feet in children are common, but if you provide your children with soccer shoes that are too narrow, you will end up creating all sort of foot issues to their feet such as blisters, calluses, and corns.

I have been working for a specialized children’s shoe store for over 10 years now, where we specialize in children with foot and leg problems, but we provide regular shoe fittings as well.  I am familiar with the best children’s shoe brands as well as the best shoe styles among those brands. I have helped several children find the perfect pair of outdoor and indoor soccer cleats.

If your children have wide or extra wide feet and you can’t seem to find indoor soccer shoes to fit the shape of their feet, you have come to the right place.

Please keep in mind that when children are playing sports,  they are stressing out their feet and legs at a whole different level, especially soccer since it requires a lot of sudden stops and side to side movements.

Soccer shoes (indoor and outdoor), are made to fit the shape of the player’s foot to give more control when hitting the soccer ball. However, this means that the shape of the shoes tends to be narrower than your regular shoes.

There is only one or two indoor soccer shoe styles available for children with wide or extra wide feet, and I will show them to you shortly. I want you to make sure that you are 100% sure of your child’s foot size first.

Let me show you a selection of the best wide indoor soccer shoe for kids with wide or extra wide feet!

Are You 100% Sure of Your Child’s Foot Size – Let’s Find Out!

I am always emphasizing to parents that it does’t matter how many features a particular shoe style provides, if the shoes are not fitted properly which involves getting the correct shoe length and the correct shoe width, your child won’t get any of the benefits that the shoes have to offer.

I always recommend parents to take their children to their local children’s shoe store that they trust, the issue is that most stores have been closing down and parents need to end up buying their kids’ shoes online. There is nothing wrong with this, but you must know your child’s exact foot size in order to know what size to order.

I created a map that showcases the best fitting children’s shoe stores by state, so I suggest you start by taking a look at that map:

The Best Kids’ Shoe Stores In The United States – Where To Go For Proper Fittings

If after looking at that map you still can’t seem to identify a shoe store in your area, then proceed to taking a look at an article along with a video I created that describes the simplest, yet most effective way to figure out your child’s foot size from home:

How To Measure Kids Shoe Size From Home – In Less Than 30 Seconds!

Wide Indoor Soccer Shoes For Kids  – Do They Exist?

There is one particular indoor soccer shoe style that will fit a child with wide or extra wide feet. This shoe style is made by New Balance, which is one of the best shoe brands for kids with wide or extra wide feet.

This particular shoe style features a nice round toe-box, and a very deep end. The round toed-box takes pressure away from your kids’ pinky toe (small toe), and prevents your kids’ toes from overlapping each other. The deep end of the shoes allow your kids’ feet to sit comfortably inside the shoes.

Take a look at the picture below to see where the toe-box of the shoes is! It’s important for the toe-box of the shoes to be round to prevent your child’s toes from overlapping or rubbing against each other.

The shoe also features a firm heel counter, which provides support to your kids’ ankles and helps with lateral movement! If you are not sure what the heel counter of the shoe is, take a look at the picture below for clarification!

  • Non-marking rubber outsole for excellent grip on all indoor surfaces (not just soccer).
  • Synthetic upper with textured surface, enhancing ball control.
  • Firm heel counter.
  • Removable insole.

Now that you know how to figure out your child’s foot size from home and what feature this shoe style provides, you are ready to take a look at the best wide indoor soccer shoe for kids.

This indoor soccer shoe style fit “short”, which means that you need to go a whole size longer of the size that your children measure in the standard foot measuring scale (Brannock device), in order to allow for growing room.

What To Do If The Shoes Still Feel Too Tight?

If this soccer indoor shoe style still feels too tight on your kids’ feet, then you need to stretch out the shoes since there are no other wide indoor soccer shoe styles available as of January, 2020.

You can use a shoe stretcher to help stretch the toe-box of the shoe, which will definitely make a difference.

I actually wrote an article where I describe the best and most affordable shoe stretchers. Go to the link below:

That article will teach you everything that you need to know about how to use shoe stretchers, a very useful tool to have at home, especially if your child has wide or extra wide feet!

Outdoor Soccer Shoes for Kids with Wide/Extra Wide Feet – Do They Exist?

I showed you which is the best indoor soccer cleat for children with wide or extra wide feet. I have been contacted by several parent who want to know if there are any outdoor soccer cleat options available for children with wide or extra wide feet.

Yes there are, but the selection is very small. There are two shoe styles made by the company New Balance, and one shoe style made by the shoe company named Zephz.

These shoe styles are an actual life saver for children with wide and extra wide feet.

I provide a complete review of the best outdoor soccer cleats for kids with wide or extra wide feet in another article called:

Wide Soccer Cleats For Kids – The Best Wide And Extra Wide Soccer Cleats For Children!

I actually own a pair of the soccer cleats that I recommend in that article. I used to develop blisters below my feet and on my small toe after every soccer game, which left me with foot pain for the whole week. These cleats are a must have for children with wide or extra wide feet.

Before you leave I wanted to tell you the key role that soccer socks play in keeping your kids’ feet healthy.  Soccer socks act as a barrier between your kids’ feet and the cleats, and will cushion your children’s feet in particular areas where they put more pressure.  There are certain soccer socks that will provide targeted cushioning on the foot-bed for shock absorption and it will reduce the friction between the foot and the cleat.

The right type of soccer socks will make a huge difference when it comes to protecting your kids’ feet on the field!

There are only certain soccer socks that will provide cushion to targeted areas of the feet, and this will prevent your child from developing foot issues. I wrote a post where I describe the best soccer socks for children. Go to the link below:

6 Comments on Wide Indoor Soccer Shoes For Kids – They DO Exist!

  1. hmmm…. having two boys who play non-stop soccer, one with normal to narrow feet, one with WIDE feet, who has had a hard time finding shoes since he was a toddler, I was gobsmacked that you are advertising Adidas as “Wide”. I anxiously clicked on your article, seeing key words “child-soccer-wide feet” because this issue plagues us. I actually could not disagree more. Adidas run normal/narrow. their shoes sometimes run big, true, but not WIDE. My son with the normal/narrow foot wears nothing but Adidas. My son with the wide foot can wear nothing but Nike Tiempo. Tiempos are made of leather, and have some give, and have the widest toe box out there, that I can find. sometimes we sacrifice in terms of “proper” fit to just get him INTO a shoe, but Tiempos are about it for soccer. They have cleats, and indoor soccer shoes. (boy and girl). My 10 year old just tried on Sambas this summer – and despite going up even a size and a half, he could not wear them. way too narrow. they are also hard on the heel of a wide foot, because they slip. My older son, who is tall/thin can wear nothing else but Adidas.
