Wide Indoor Soccer Shoes for Kids – They DO Exist!

wide-indoor-soccer-shoes-for-kids

Have you been looking for a pair of wide indoor soccer shoes for your child? Have you tried several different pairs but you always end up empty-handed? I have been fitting children’s shoes for many years, and I recently found a couple of wide indoor soccer shoes for kids with wide feet.

Finding a wide pair of indoor soccer shoes can be a frustrating and time-consuming experience. Wide and extra wide feet in children are common and if you provide your children with soccer shoes that are too narrow, you might end up creating all sorts of foot issues to their feet such as blisters, calluses, and corns.

My Experience Fitting Children’s Shoes – Over a Decade of Shoe Fitting Experience

I have been working for a specialized children’s shoe store for over 10 years now, where we specialize in helping children with “complicated” foot shapes as well as foot and leg problems, but we provide regular shoe fittings as well. I am familiar with the best children’s shoe brands as well as the best shoe styles among those brands. Over the years I became familiar with the best soccer shoes for kids with wide feet.

What Makes the Indoor Soccer Shoes I Recommend Effective for Wide Feet?

In addition to being labeled as wide (W), the indoor soccer shoes I recommend provide these 2 key features:

1️⃣ Extra Depth: This feature allows your child’s feet to fit deeply inside the shoes and prevents the top part of your child’s feet from rubbing against the top part of the shoes. Let me show you the difference in depth between the indoor soccer shoe I recommend and a different style:

2️⃣ Rounder Toe-Boxes: Shoes with round toe-boxes help prevent your child’s toes from rubbing against the side of the shoes or overlapping one another. Let me show you the difference between a pair of the indoor soccer shoes I recommend and a different style:

Can Your Child Wear Regular Sneakers to Indoor Soccer Games?

This is a question that your child’s soccer coach might be able to answer, but my opinion is that children shouldn’t wear their regular sneakers when playing indoor soccer.

When children are playing indoor soccer, they are stressing out their feet and legs at a whole different level, especially soccer since it requires a lot of sudden stops, quick direction changes, and side-to-side movements.

Soccer shoes (indoor and outdoor), are made to fit the shape of the player’s foot to give more control when hitting the soccer ball. This means that the shape of the shoes tends to be narrower than your kids’ regular sneakers.

There are only a few indoor soccer shoes available for children with wide or extra wide feet, and I will show them to you shortly. I want to first make sure that you are 100% sure of your child’s foot size, otherwise, you won’t know what shoe size to order online.

Are You 100% Sure of Your Child’s Foot Size – Let’s Find Out!

I always recommend parents to take their children to their local children’s shoe store that they trust, the issue is that most stores have been closing down and parents need to end up buying their kids’ shoes online. There is nothing wrong with this, but you must know your child’s exact foot size to know what size to order.

I created a resource that showcases the best fitting children’s shoe stores by state:

The Best Kids’ Shoe Stores in the United States – Where to Go for Proper Fittings

How to Retrieve Your Child’s Exact Foot Length and Shape

If after looking at that resource you still can’t seem to identify a shoe store in your area, then proceed to take a look at an article I created that describes the simplest, yet most effective way to figure out your child’s foot size from home:

How to Measure Your Kids’ Foot – 2 Simple Steps to Determine Foot Length and Foot Width

In that article I help parents determine their child’s exact foot size and whether the child has narrow, medium, wide, or extra wide feet. I also will be able to tell you whether your child has a high instep or not.

The Best Wide Indoor Soccer Shoes for Kids ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

These indoor soccer shoes have everything your children need to perform comfortably on the indoor soccer field. They are lightweight, flexible, have a firm heel counter (for lateral movement), excellent traction, and are available in wide widths.

What Shoe Size Should You Order?

To allow for growing room, I highly recommend that parents order these shoes a whole size larger than their child’s current foot size. This translates to 3/8 of an inch or 0.8 centimeters of space between your child’s longest toe and the end of the shoes.

These indoor soccer shoes feature round toe-boxes and extra depth. The round toe-boxes take pressure away from your kids’ pinky toe (small toe), and prevent your kids’ toes from overlapping each other. The deep end of the shoes allows your kids’ feet to sit comfortably inside the shoes.

Some of the features of the indoor shoes I recommended are:

  • Re-designed straight last giving superior fit and comfort with a lower toe spring.
  • Non-marking rubber outsoles for excellent grip on all indoor surfaces (not just soccer).
  • Synthetic uppers with textured surface, enhancing ball control.
  • Firm heel counters.
  • Removable insoles.

What to Do if the Shoes Still Feel Too Tight?

If the soccer shoes I recommended are too tight on your kids’ feet, then you need to stretch out the shoes since there are no other wide indoor soccer shoe styles available as of February 2023.

You can use a shoe stretcher to help stretch the toe-boxes of the shoes, which will definitely make a difference. I actually wrote an article where I describe the best and most affordable shoe stretchers. Go to the link below:

That article will teach you everything that you need to know about how to use shoe stretchers, a very useful tool to have at home, especially if your child has wide or extra wide feet.

Outdoor Soccer Shoes for Kids with Wide Feet – Do They Exist?

I showed you a list of the best indoor soccer cleats for children with wide or extra wide feet. I have been contacted by several parents who want to know if there are any outdoor soccer cleat options available for children with wide or extra wide feet.

Yes, there are, but the selection is very small. The outdoor soccer shoes that I recommend are made by a company named Zephz and New Balance.

I provide a complete review of the best outdoor soccer cleats for kids with wide or extra wide feet in another article called:

Wide Soccer Cleats for Kids – The Best Wide and Extra Wide Soccer Cleats for Children!

I actually own a pair of the soccer cleats that I recommend in that article. I used to develop blisters below my feet and on my small toe after every soccer game, which left me with foot pain for the whole week. These cleats are a must have for children with wide or extra wide feet.

Before you leave I wanted to tell you the key role that soccer socks play in keeping your kids’ feet healthy. Soccer socks act as a barrier between your kids’ feet and the cleats, and will cushion your children’s feet in particular areas where they put more pressure.

Soccer Socks for Kids – Breathable and Targeted Cushion!

Certain soccer socks provide targeted cushioning on the foot-bed for shock absorption and it will reduce the friction between the foot and the cleat. The right type of soccer socks can make a huge difference when it comes to protecting your kids’ feet on the field!

There are only certain soccer socks that provide cushion to targeted areas of the feet, and this will prevent your child from developing foot issues. Below you can find a selection of the best soccer socks for kids with wide feet:

Please remember that if you allow your child to play soccer in shoes that are too narrow your child might end up developing several foot issues such as blisters, calluses, and corns.

6 Comments on Wide Indoor Soccer Shoes for Kids – They DO Exist!

  1. hmmm…. having two boys who play non-stop soccer, one with normal to narrow feet, one with WIDE feet, who has had a hard time finding shoes since he was a toddler, I was gobsmacked that you are advertising Adidas as “Wide”. I anxiously clicked on your article, seeing key words “child-soccer-wide feet” because this issue plagues us. I actually could not disagree more. Adidas run normal/narrow. their shoes sometimes run big, true, but not WIDE. My son with the normal/narrow foot wears nothing but Adidas. My son with the wide foot can wear nothing but Nike Tiempo. Tiempos are made of leather, and have some give, and have the widest toe box out there, that I can find. sometimes we sacrifice in terms of “proper” fit to just get him INTO a shoe, but Tiempos are about it for soccer. They have cleats, and indoor soccer shoes. (boy and girl). My 10 year old just tried on Sambas this summer – and despite going up even a size and a half, he could not wear them. way too narrow. they are also hard on the heel of a wide foot, because they slip. My older son, who is tall/thin can wear nothing else but Adidas.
