Wide Indoor Soccer Shoes for Kids – They DO Exist!
Parents of children with wide feet often struggle with finding sports shoes that provide a comfortable fit. Ill-fitting shoes can lead to discomfort, blisters, and even long-term foot issues. Wide indoor soccer shoes are specifically designed to accommodate broader foot shapes, offering ample space for natural foot movement, which is essential for both comfort and performance on the field.
Key Features to Look for in Wide Indoor Soccer Shoes
In addition to being labeled as wide (W), the indoor soccer shoes I recommend provide these two key features:
1️⃣ Extra Depth: This feature allows your child’s feet to fit deeply inside the shoes and prevents the top part of your child’s feet from rubbing against the top part of the shoes. Let me show you the difference in depth between the indoor soccer shoe I recommend and a different style:
2️⃣ Rounded Toe-Boxes: Shoes with round toe-boxes help prevent your child’s toes from rubbing against the side of the shoes or overlapping one another. Let me show you the difference between a pair of the indoor soccer shoes I recommend and a different style:
Should Your Child Wear Regular Sneakers to Indoor Soccer Games?
This is a question that your child’s soccer coach might be able to answer, but my opinion is that children shouldn’t wear their regular sneakers when playing indoor soccer. When children are playing indoor soccer, they are stressing out their feet and legs at a whole different level, especially soccer since it requires a lot of sudden stops, quick direction changes, and side-to-side movements. Indoor soccer shoes provide padded insoles and supportive midsoles that can absorb impact and reduce stress on growing feet.
Soccer shoes (indoor and outdoor), are made to fit the shape of the player’s foot to give more control when hitting the soccer ball. This means that the shape of the shoes tends to be narrower than your kids’ regular sneakers. I am going to help you find the widest styles that hopefully will be wide enough for your child’s wide feet.
How to Order the Correct Shoe Size Online
A proper fit is paramount when selecting indoor soccer shoes for kids. Ensure that there is enough room for the toes to wiggle freely while avoiding excessive space that could cause instability. Shoes should have a snug fit around the heel and midfoot to provide adequate support. I created a virtual shoe fitting service that will help you retrieve what shoe size you should order online.
By the way, active play can lead to sweaty feet, which may cause discomfort and odor. The indoor soccer shoes that I recommend are made with breathable materials like mesh or perforated leather to keep feet cool and dry during play.

What to Do if the Shoes Still Feel Too Tight?
If the soccer shoes I recommended are too tight on your kids’ feet, then you need to stretch out the shoes using a shoe stretcher to help stretch the toe-boxes of the shoes, which will definitely make a difference. That article will teach you everything that you need to know about how to use shoe stretchers, a very useful tool to have at home, especially if your child has wide or extra wide feet.
Outdoor Soccer Shoes for Kids with Wide Feet
I have been contacted by several parents who want to know if there are any outdoor soccer cleat options available for children with wide or extra wide feet. Yes, there are, but the selection is very small. The outdoor soccer shoes that I recommend are made by a company named Zephz and New Balance. I provide a complete review of the best outdoor soccer cleats for kids with wide or extra wide feet in a different article I wrote.
Before you leave I wanted to tell you the key role that soccer socks play in keeping your kids’ feet healthy. Soccer socks act as a barrier between your kids’ feet and the cleats, and will cushion your children’s feet in particular areas where they put more pressure.

Do you have narrow soccer flats recommendedations? My five year old inherited my very narrow feet. Thanks.
Hello Sarah,
Are you talking about outdoor soccer cleats or indoor soccer cleats? There is a post I wrote where I describe the best soccer cleats for children with narrow feet and you can find it here:
Narrow Soccer Cleats – The Best Soccer Cleats For Children With Narrow Feet!
hmmm…. having two boys who play non-stop soccer, one with normal to narrow feet, one with WIDE feet, who has had a hard time finding shoes since he was a toddler, I was gobsmacked that you are advertising Adidas as “Wide”. I anxiously clicked on your article, seeing key words “child-soccer-wide feet” because this issue plagues us. I actually could not disagree more. Adidas run normal/narrow. their shoes sometimes run big, true, but not WIDE. My son with the normal/narrow foot wears nothing but Adidas. My son with the wide foot can wear nothing but Nike Tiempo. Tiempos are made of leather, and have some give, and have the widest toe box out there, that I can find. sometimes we sacrifice in terms of “proper” fit to just get him INTO a shoe, but Tiempos are about it for soccer. They have cleats, and indoor soccer shoes. (boy and girl). My 10 year old just tried on Sambas this summer – and despite going up even a size and a half, he could not wear them. way too narrow. they are also hard on the heel of a wide foot, because they slip. My older son, who is tall/thin can wear nothing else but Adidas.
Hello,
Please note that I do not advertise Adidas shoes as “wide”, I advertise the Adidas Samba style as wide. Those are two very different things!
I am aware that most Adidas shoes don’t run wide. I really appreciate your thoughts, since you make very valuable points.
Did you know that there is an actual soccer cleat that comes in wide widths? I wrote a post about it and you can find it here:
Soccer Cleats For Kids ‘ Finding An Extra Wide Boot That Fits
What about Munich..?
Generally Munich indoor cleats run wide..
Hello Jodi,
Thank you for letting me know. I only review shoes that I have fitted before. However, if one day I get to try the Munich shoe brand and I can confirm that they will fit a child with wide feet, I will definitely start recommending them.
